5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Record They Never Made!
I have always been a big fan of Incognito. I love the horn, funk, soul sound and this band was always a cool mixture of old and newer more cutting edge sounds. My only problem always was that each individual album wasn't strong from start to finish. The band's musicianship always outpaced the songwriting I guess.

Here is a best case example of why labels should put out...

1.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre Wedding Band
I bought this based on the enthusiasm of the reviews. I can only surmise that the reviewers are either friends and family of this group, or that Incognito has compromising pictures of the reviewers. If you're into wedding bands, then this is for you. If you're looking for an original sound with a real groove, look elseswhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY!!, March 19, 2002

Have always been a HUGE Incognito fan. This collection is simply fabulous, even though i think they should've added more tracks from their releases between 1992-1996. But then again, i still think this compilation is worth every penny.

Fantastic, both vocal and backing. We run a guest house in Australia and play a lot of great music but the one we get the most enquiries as to what we are playing and can I give them details so they can get a copy is "Best of Incognito" great music and those girls sure sing up a storm.

Incognito is one of the groups that got me hooked into Acid Jazz and this album quite nicely summarizes the hits that make Incognito addictive and popular. However, "The Best of Incognito" is also a good start for those who don't know this delightful group. Besides from the upbeat songs, the album also has some mellow songs like "Deep Waters" or "A Shade of Blue". As a bonus, there are also 3 new tracks that are groovy inded!

Play this CD and head down to the street and I'm sure after listening to "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" and "Everyday", you'd be dancing and walking at the same time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep (water) smooth soul, June 22, 2008

A fine album. This carries the definitive vocalisation of Ronnie Laws' "always there", the uplifting classic "Still a friend of mine", hard popping acid jazz standards "everyday" and "Nights over Egypt".
Maysa's scatting on the wonderful "colibri" would make this a buy on its own, but her delivery on the blue soul "deep water" is absolutely crushing. This is an album i want to be buried with, just in case the egyptians are right and I can take it into the afterlife.

I fell in love with this band when I saw them live in Belgrade, Serbia last May. Their music is energetic, and they wowed the crowd from start to finish. This album is the best of their best music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cd!, May 22, 2009
This review is from: Best of Incognito (Audio CD)
I really like Incognito and they were really great when Maysa was part of their group. Her voice is INCREDIBLE. You just don't hear rich tones like hers in the jazz world that often. You will love this cd.
