5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Treat, April 8, 2005

Treat follows treat in this wonderful colection. Tadieu Bone (used at a very poignant moment in Almodovar's "All about my Mother")is the most sensuous and beautiful track I know. Lo's distinctive, soulful voice is perfectly complemented by sensitive guitar and harmonica throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ismael Lo ..Salute, January 19, 2007
This review is from: Best of Ismael Lo: Balladeer (Audio CD)
I have a love of various African music, and consequently a collection of different artists, all of which I enjoy at different times, depending on the "mood of the moment". This particular album of Ismael Lo I picked up 'on sale',and not having previously heard this artist, I had no idea what to expect... From the very first track, I just loved the whole album. There is not one track that I could say I like least. This is my most favoured album, and after playing it countless times I don't tire of it.It is sensuously beautiful music, and combined with Ismael's unusually evocative voice, and sensitivity in his singing and musical arrangement, I give it a ten out of ten.
I am now awaiting my order of another of his albums with eager anticipation.

I don't understand a word he sings, but they still burn the soul. This is one of my favorite albums. Reminds me a little of Paul Simon's African-inspired music, and of Ali Farka Toure... but melodic, structured, (sometimes overproduced), and beautiful singing.
