Yes, these are Jack's hit songs, but they are 1981 re-recordings of the originals.

Decent Remakes Of Classic Hits,

In 1967, Jack Greene won four CMA awards(Best Male Vocalist, Best Album, Best Single and Song Of The Year for "There Goes My Everything")and went on to become a well known and popular Grand Ole Opry member. He charted nine Top Ten singles between 1966 and 1970 and recorded duets with Jeannie Seely. His warm, emotional vocal style and keen choice of appropriate material were a perfect combination on a prolific number of recordings for the Decca/MCA label. Unfortunately, a British Edsel CD compilation is the only available collection of those original recordings.
Like many artists who have no control over their recorded works, Jack Greene returned to the studio and reproduced versions of his catalog so that his legacy is available to the public. Yes, these are remakes, but they are close enough in quality to the originals that they are effective. This ten song Federal CD release includes the Greene signature songs "Statue Of A Fool", "There Goes My Everything", "All The Time", and "You Are My Treasure". Other biggies include "What Locks The Door", "Wish I Didn't Have To Miss You (w/Jeannie Seely), and "Until My Dreams Come True". Also included are the lesser known gems "I Need Somebody Bad", "Wanting You But Never Having You", and the hard-to find "The Last Letter". This collection should do the trick until MCA releases a collection of the originals.

Great country music,
This review is from: Best of the Best (Audio CD)
Jack Greene sang some amazing country songs, yet somehow he has been forgotten. Every song on this CD is wonderful. So what if they're re-recordings? Where else are you going to find this type of country music? This is a great CD of old country music.

These may be re-recordings, but they sound awesome. I Don't think you can go wrong with this cd. It's really a good cd, if you like these songs.

The song we really had been looking for, "There Goes My Everything" had first been recorded by Jack Greene and we hadn't been able to find it. We are delighted with it.
