Great romantic music from "The Great One.",

This review is from: Best Of Jackie Gleason, The (Audio CD)
Jackie Gleason was an incredibly talented entertainer as a comedian and actor. But he also produced the best romantic popular music ever made. His formula was simple but brilliant: a lush string orchestra -- with no percussion to disrupt the romantic mood -- combined with smoth, mellow solos by the great trumpeter/cornetist Bobby Hackett. His first albums -- including Music for Lover's Only and Music, Martinis and Memories -- were smash hits, and deservedly so. Unfortunately, Gleason later altered his winning formula and produced some less successful albums. But the songs on this collection are excerpted from his best albums and are all winners. This is mellow, romantic popular music at its best -- by the master of the genre.

I have been a fan of Jackie Gleason's music for around 25 years. His music has a signature that is as recoginazible as his "And away we go!!!" When he put Bobby Hackett into the equation the formula was absolutely brillent and the result was unparralled perfection. I love this album.

Growing up in the 50's, this music evokes memories of days gone by. This truly is Gleason at his best. His unmistakeable orchestrations put even the most restless minds at ease. Grab your sweetie and slow dance into yesterday.
