Message from Dr. Foster of Duxford, England,
This review is from: The Best of Jazz (v. 1) (Paperback)
I am in the middle of a very excellent bookgiven to me recently in Penzance by one of my sisters-in-law. It is "TheBest Of Jazz" by an author called Humphrey Lyttelton. He has devoted a chapter each to a selection of jazz giants male and female. His writing is of a very superior standard, he also did the cover illustration, and of
course, he can play note for note, many of the musical examples he examines. The obvious fact that he has a copy of each of the jazz milestones discussed in detail in the text is also a cause for envy. Highly recommended to the point of being mandatory. |
