Great late 80's pop in the perfect format,
By Pat Kelly (Here, There & Everywhere) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
When the Millennium Collections began, the criticism was that there were better collections available for most artists, cheaper catalog items, or that the collections were either too narrow for major artists (Rod Stewart, Supremes, The Who) or too broad for obscure artists (Burt Bacharach, Rita Coolidge). But for the late 80's band, The Jets, this format fits like a glove. The Jets were a family band, eight brothers and sisters of the Wolfgramm family. (In fact two other brothers not in this band formed the duo Boys Club.) They got their name from the fictional band in Elton John's "Bennie & the Jets". Between 1986 & 1989, the band had 10 charted hits, all represented here. (If there's another CD in this series that has both the complete hits of the artist and minimal filler, I can't find it.) Five of the Jets songs went top ten nationally. They're the hits you recognize: the up-tempo dance numbers "Crush On You" and "Cross my Broken Heart", the better than average ballads "You Got It All" and "Make It Real", and the "lite-Prince" funk of "Rocket 2 U". The Jets are not one of the bands you think of as a big 80's pop band, but you'll find yourself singing along to hit after hit. Nothing too deep or groundbreaking, but good pop well done, and that's reward enough. "Baaaaby, I can rocket 2 U

For Eighties Lovers Only!,
This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
This is the ultimate collection for fans of the eighties, lovers of the eighties, and children of the eighties. The Jets ruled the airwaves in the late eighties and they prove it with their best hits on this one collection. Unless you were on Mars there should be at least four songs on here you remember and probably enjoy. Along with Michael Jackson, Stacy Lattisaw, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and Curtis Blow, The Jets created an era of music that will not only be known for " 80's-style " but known to true music fans everywhere. This is a must-have for Jets' fans and lovers of good ol' top-ten eighties hits.

miss the 80s?,
This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
If you miss the fun of 80s pop, this CD is good enough for you. A couple of the ballads really struck me with memories - "You Got It All" brought me back to watching its video, and "Make It Real" put me at my 8th grade dance. All the dance tracks are upbeat and fun and i had memories of some of them - hearing " crush on you" on the way to the beach. "Cross my broken heart" placed me at the pool in 1987. Fun and upbeat describes what the 80s were about. Maybe that's whats been missing from America for the past 16 years anyway.

Great Family Music Group,

Like the other 8 or 9 family member bands that preceeded the Jets, i.e., the Jacksons, the Sylvers, the Osmonds, the DeBarge family, and the Sledge sisters-Sister Sledge that is, the Jets (the Wolfgram family) were a great music group that had a very talented lead singer in Elizabeth Wolfgram (why Elizabeth was not able to carve out a solo career is a mystery to me). She had such a pure and innocent voice. This is a great c.d. of great 80's pure pop music. Get it, you will enjoy it!

"Back in the day" when POP was KING,
By
This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
Nine of the cuts compiled here were featured on the group's self-titled debut album and the follow-up "Magic". They, like most of early 80's pop, made the transition from "disco" to "dance" (as the former was later called). This collection shows why the band, while not a trendsetter, was extremely chart-worthy. And for that, the band can be commended and enjoyed by those that remember them fondly as the "family that could".

This collection is awesome. I loved this group when they hit the scene back in the early to mid eighties. All the songs on this cd are classic Jet singing/dance songs.

Classic 80's Band!,

This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
"The Jets" are a classic 80's band.I have always been a fan of them, ever since I purchased there 45rpm "Crush On You". This is the Ultimate Collection of the Jets. The only flaw from this album, is that it is missing 3 singles released in there career. It is missing "Christmas In My Heart",from there 1986 "Christmas With The Jets" album, also missing is the single "Anytime" from there 1987 "Magic" album, and one more single titled "Somebody To Love Me" from there 1989 "Believe" album. Besides from these flaws, this is truly the Ultimate Collection, including hits such as "Crush On You,You Got It All,Make It Real,Rocket 2 U,and many more. Make sure you get your copy today!

Talented Tongans...80's Dance pop Fav's,
By D.J. J.C. "GOD's Son" (Planet Earth...) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best of the Jets: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
The Jets were one of the Teen Pop bands who churned out dance pop hits in the mid 80's with a fun, innocent dance vibe. The first tune I remember was "Curiosity"(1985)... That was followed by "Crush on You"(1986)...both of these were extremely popular on the Dancefloors of the mid 80's. This is a very good compilation Album with only 1 of my favorites missing ( the remake of the Del-Fonics great, "La,La means I love you"). I am not a big fan of the 20th Centary Masters collections but this one represents the Jets very nicely with other hits 'You've got it all", "Cross My broken Heart" and Sending my love showing a few different sides to the group. This group of Tongen-German brothers and sisters are still somewhat active on the music scene mostly performing in Christian Groups involving younger siblings...but in the 80's the cute, cool, colorful group, The Jets, were hot on the Dance charts...Music was so much better back then...thanks for the memories!
