4.0 out of 5 stars One of the Great Fortean Writers.., May 23, 2010

This review is from: The Best of John Keel (Paperback)
Keel's stuff has been difficult to find in recent years, especially his classics "The Eighth Tower" and "UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse." This collection of sometimes lightweight columns, written late in Keel's life, is welcome -- even though a goodly number are fact-free ruminations or stylistic exercises. I always thought Keel was a terrific thinker / analyst of Fortean and other paranormal phenomena including UFOs and admired him for the iconoclasm that got him in trouble with so many true believers. His arch, acerbic writing manner is on display here and will entertain those who want to know him for more than "The Mothman Prophecies."

5.0 out of 5 stars The Master of Weird, February 10, 2012

This review is from: The Best of John Keel (Paperback)
I first got turned on to John Keel when a relative gave me an old stack of Fate magazines -- back when it was digest size. It didn't take me long to discover Keel's column and become hooked. Not only does Keel provide you with musings and theories on some of the world's weird phenomenon, he does it in such a way that makes him the rightful literary successor to Charles Fort. No dogmatic defense of his opinions -- in the world of Keel everything's up for grabs.

I think anyone interested in the paranormal will love these bite size servings of the inexplicable. One of my all time favorite writers when it comes to strange fun. Do yourself a favor and check out his longer works as well.
