I can sometimes forget how I did something to my computer before and this book reminds me or tells me how to do simple things I forget how to do.
Paula
I think this book has good info regarding computers for both young and old, very good and very useful information.

Frank K. Woods has written probably the best books on how to use a
computer especially for senior citizens and all those unsure just
how to operate one with self confidence. HIs, "East Computing for
Seniors" was great and this latest one-immediately when I received it
in the mail, starated underlining and hi-lighting. The great thing
about these books is they are easy to understand even on things you
never thought you would be able to do on your own without thinking
you might mess up something. I,ve tried many how to computer books
and most of them still were not written clearly enough. Years ago
I worked for the government in D. C. where no computers. Very late in
life I decided I had to know how to work one if I was going to be
able to complete my genealogy-there was no two ways about it. When I
first started learning how to operate a computer, unfortunately I
was not aware Woods' books were around -if they were at that time.
How much easier it would have been for me if they were. Starting to
learn the hows and whys of a computer at an advanced age is like
having a mental breakdown as I am sure many of you out there can
relate to that. To new computer users (and in fact those of all ages)
be sure to read this book and any other he has written on computers
before you decide to hack up the machine into tiny pieces and
have a bon fire!

Book is well indexed for quick referencing and includes much info new to me, a nine-year computer buff. Easy to read and understand, but not a simple beginners' book. 366 pages in hardback.

This book does give a lot of hints, shortcuts and how-to's for a Windows platform computer. But, and this is what I think is misleading, the writers of this book should have inserted "PC" before the word Computer in the title so that MOS users, like myself, won't waste our money on an item of limited use. . This book is not too user friendly for the Mac line of computer users. In fact, MOS users can see just how much of Apple's innovations were "liberated" by the Windows (DOS) folks. Perhaps this is one of the secrets: not much help to the Apple users, but keep PC out of the title and sell more books.

Very good advice on dealing with your computer. Clearly written and easy to read. I am very happy with the price I paid; however, current pricing seems too high. My sister wanted one and we had to search other online sources to find one reasonably priced. This book jumped from under $20 for used, in good condition, to $70 in a matter of a few weeks.

Plain and simple book on the "How to's", "what's this" for your computer.Easy to understand with large enough print, so it's easy on the eyes.Lets be honest the truth being I live fifty miles from the nearest large town(Ft.Worth Tx) and then this book wouldn't be sold anywhere there either. That's why I buy any hard to find books on Amazon.com and it's delivered right to my mail box.
The down size of this book is the copyright date 2009 which doesn't mention newer features in the computer world such as Windows 7 and Blu-Ray,etc. but it does make note of the "new" N wireless router. It's hard to keep up with all the new computer stuff in todays computer world, what's new today is old stuff tomorrow.

I can sometimes forget how I did something to my computer before and this book reminds me or tells me how to do simple things I forget how to do. Examples are doing: fragmenting and cleaning the disc or cleaning the history. There are many other things in the book but that is how I use it.

This book is much like the "manual" you used to receive with your newly-purchased computer. Valuable information for the regular/non-tech computer user; the material in this book form is always available for review, etc. - NOT like the usual "help menu" on screen.

This book has enlightened me about so many things re' my computer. It also arrived more quickly than I had anticipated and I would buy from this seller again. Thanks so much... The ONLY drawback might be that it was published in 2009, BUT........ it's still applicable in so many ways today. I love this book.
