5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly fun, but not the same versions as Coconuts solo.
This cd is excellent in so many ways. The music is great and includes the very hard to find single version of Kid Creole's "Don't Take My Coconuts", but this song and "Maladie D'Amour" are not the same versions as are on the Coconuts solo album "Don't Take My Coconuts". The title track on the album(available only in vinyl, and released only...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hardly the Best
Kid Creole has done so much excellent work, even before the release date of this album, that it's strange that he would put together this collection of pretty-goods and near-misses and call it a "Best of". A few of the tunes (Lifeboat Party, Don't Take my Coconuts) are great. Several are just plain yawn-inducing boring (Dear Addy, a remix of I'm a Wonderful...

A few of the tunes (Lifeboat Party, Don't Take my Coconuts) are great. Several are just plain yawn-inducing boring (Dear Addy, a remix of I'm a Wonderful Thing?). Give this disc a pass and buy "Kiss Me When the Light Changes", a disc where every track is excellent.

This cd is excellent in so many ways. The music is great and includes the very hard to find single version of Kid Creole's "Don't Take My Coconuts", but this song and "Maladie D'Amour" are not the same versions as are on the Coconuts solo album "Don't Take My Coconuts". The title track on the album(available only in vinyl, and released only on vinyl and cassette) includes backing chanting by a group called Another Tribe and adds a lot of spice to this song, I recommend both versions of this hard to find song.

There's quite a few Creole/Coconuts career span compilations on the market and most of them include dozen or so of his most notorious songs - "Wonderful Thing," "Annie...," "Stool Pidgeon," etc. - but this one is valuble for inclusion of "Don't Take My Coconuts" which was - as Kid's version - released only as a single and is extremly hard to find. (There's also hard to find Coconuts version on their "solo" album by the same name.) So, don't be stingy, dish out those few extra bucks, but get a real deal...
