4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite "All The Right Reasons", September 7, 2003

This review is from: Best of Kihn (Audio CD)
Made in USA in 2003, Serial# 06076-81243-2, Playing Time 75:49

Don't let the packaging of this CD fool you... even though it uses the same front cover photo as "All The Right Reasons" (the 2000 UK compilation), with a change in title (to "Best Of Kihn"), the content of this compilation has been significantly amended to contain 22 tracks (and not 20 as on "ATRR").

It seems that the Kihn albums have a short "life" on the marketplace (the same proves true with Mr. Kihn's books!), which is a shame considering the terrific material he's released over the years.

If you already own "Kihnsolidation" (a best-of from 1989), you already have 16 of the 22 tracks on this latest "Best Of"; but unless you also have the "Rockihnroll", "Kihnspiracy", "With The Naked Eye" and "Kihntinued" albums on CD, some great tracks found on "Best Of Kihn" are missing from your CD library.

"Best Of Kihn" blends both the "straight-ahead" and the "danceable" genres that's brought success to Greg Kihn; because the albums haven't been re-released for CD, you can content yourself with 2 interesting compilations: grab "Best Of Kihn", or better yet, the 2-CD set "Kihnspicuous Taste", which contains 33 tracks.

You'll be humming some of those positive-outlook tracks (like "For You", "Happy Man", "Reunited" and many more) for quite some time... somewhat addictive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greg Kihn band deserves classic cult status!, September 1, 2003
This review is from: Best of Kihn (Audio CD)
The Greg Kihn band should be more appreciated for what they were at their best. The tunes grab you with the great playing, harmony vocals, Greg's kind of dumb but riveting, entertaining and very enjoyable voice, and the catchiest songs around. There are so many highlights. Hearing songs like "For you" "Remember" makes me wonder why those songs didn't break out of cult status. Find out for yourself, especially if you like classic bands from the 60's to 80's and you want to have good music to crank occasionally.

"Best of Kihn" is as good of a Greg Kihn compilation that you'll ever find. It's loaded with all the hits from both Greg Kihn and Greg Kihn Band from 1975-1986. The only album track that I wish were included is "Valerie". If you can find this CD for a decent price, snag it!
