5.0 out of 5 stars Klymaxx
I had forgotten about Klymaxx until I heard the song "I'd Still Say Yes" on the Radio. I enjoyed the song, found out it was Klymaxx and bought this CD! The 12-inch version's of "The Men All Pause," "Meeting in the Ladies Room," "Sexy" and "I'd Still Say Yes" could more than justify the price! "I Miss You" is also a personal favorite! For once, I give this collection...

This collection is "just okay." It's missing "Never Underestimate the Power of A Woman," "Multi-Purpose Girls," which was never released and which was written and produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, "Wild Girls" also written and produced by Jam & Lewis and/or ANYTHING else from the tight and funky first two albums; a disappointment in my opinion. 5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, September 15, 2004

The Go-Go's got an awful lot press for being a true all girl band. But Klymaxx, not so much. I never knew why. Men All Pause and Meeting in the Ladies Room, burned up the clubs. Patrons went crazy. These girls be funky. Certainly not BW!. Lorena Lungs could rip the songs like no one else. Listening to her sing Sexy makes me wonder why record producers these days seek out voices like Amerie's (light and pretty, but light on emotion). Ballad or bumper, these ladies rocked, in the truest sense. Bernadette Cooper, bless her crazy self went on to produce a great album for herself and for Alisa Randolph (try to find these gems on Amazon!). I miss this group. These Divas Need Love Too!

This was one of my favorite groups back in the late 80's. I'm sorry that they did not last long, but they have some great songs on this collection.

The Men all Pause, I Miss You, Good Lovin, Divas Need Love Too, and I'd Still Say Yes, sound just as good 15+ yrs later. Klymaxx was one of the best girl groups out there. I'm glad this collection is out, brings back good memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars REAL Klymaxx website, February 13, 2004

Absolutely a MUST-HAVE for anyone who loves 80's music (or just excellent pop/funk/r&b!)
These ladies are the REAL DEAL. In an industry that was controlled and dominated by men, a young lady named Bernadette Cooper pulled together an amazing group of talents including Joyce "Fenderella" Irby, Lorena "Lungs" Stewart and Lynn Malsby. These Original Divas WROTE this music, they PLAYED the instruments, and they SANG the vocals. What's more, they kicked a** at it all!!
Recently featured on an episode of VH1's "Bands Reunited", there is now renewed interest (to say the least!) in the original Klymaxx.
By the way, if you want to check out the REAL, original Klymaxx's website, go to WWW.KLYMAXX.ORG

If you want to listen to some of the BEST from the 80's from "THE ORIGINAL DIVAS" - well, here it is! This stuff is GREAT!
By the way, you can find the REAL Klymaxx website at "WWW.KLYMAXX.ORG"
The original members of Klymaxx were also recently featured on a fantastic episode of VH1's "Bands Reunited" series.
Basically, if you're into 80's music (or just damn good pop/funk/r&b) you've GOTTA have this CD in your collection...period!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ...old school dance tunes that'll NEVER die!, June 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Best of Klymaxx: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
These are some of the best, classic dance tunes of all times (not to mention Joyce "Fenderella" Irby's killer ballad, I Miss You!....what an absolute classic!) Although Klymaxx has apparently reformed in recent days, you definitely can't beat the original vocals of Bernadette Cooper & Joyce Irby. God, can you imagine what a real "reunion concert" with these ladies would be like. One can only dream!!

4.0 out of 5 stars No Joke., January 20, 2010

This collection is vicious and sassy. I gave it only 4 stars because It's missing a smash, The infamous "Wild Girls". I would've preferred that over "Private Party" which is useless, forgettable and dusty, Where did they barf that up from?. How is this a "Best Of..." without "Wild Girls"? This would fiercly be a 5 star review had "Wild Girls" been sitting lovely on the tracklist.

I'm sure many people don't even recall much of these songs as hits. I remember "The Men All Paused" "Ladie's Room" "I Miss You" & "I'd Still Say Yes", Who the hell doesn't?. I have no idea what radio station they ever played any of the other tracks on. Which is normal when they release a "Best Of..." album. I guess that's what it is "The Best Of" which to most would imply that they're hits which I can plainly see isn't the case. Moving on...

These songs are back in style. The 80's have arrived once again, The decade that was like a holiday season. Very festive and full of celebration and life. A time we'll never see again, it's come and gone. Which is why collections like this one are very meaningful.

Like with every collection there's always the songs we've never heard of right? Three unfamiliar songs that took me away instantly are "Lock And Key" "Man Size Love" and "Sexy". They're like NEW to me. So, Bonus points for gathering some extra goodies.

"Lock And Key" has (Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) written ALL---OVER---IT (Who could miss that?), What a FABULOUS production. This is the epitome of what hot 80's Pop music sounds like.

"Sexy" is pretty much the same formula as "Men All Paused" & "Ladie's Room". The beat is identical but slightly winded down a notch. NOT TO WORRY, You'll still be able to strut and lose control. It's still upbeat and danceable, It's just a subtle difference in pace, that's all.

"Man Size Love" unforgettable, I'm surprised this song didn't top charts. It's extremely catchy, upbeat and melodic. I love the lyrics. "Diva's Need Love Too" is a nice track also.

Overall i'm satisfied with the song choices except for "Private Party" & "Good Love". I understand they're last album was in the 90's but Klymaxx is associated heavily with the 80's, And because this is a "Best Of..." it should only feature "The Best". "Good Love" is not as bland as "Private Party" but i'm sure they could've found something else to replace one of them with. Preferably "Private Party" should go and "Wild Girls" should take it's place.

It could have been better compiled and all inclusive of their short-lived career. It might have also included some "solo" hits (Bernadette, Fenderella, etc...) and perhaps even something from Madame X; "Just That Type of Girl." I'll just call it incomplete for lack of a better word.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Climax of Klymaxx, October 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Best of Klymaxx: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
Klymaxx, an all-girl 80's group never reached the heights of groups like the Pointer Sisters, EnVogue, or Destiny's Child. This was unfortunate! This talented group could not only sing; but they wrote many of their own songs and played their own accompaniments. This CD offers an overview of this talented sextet. They could rock it on fast tunes like: "Meeting in the Ladies Room". They could also sing lovely ballads like "I Miss You". Both of these are on this collection along with lesser known gems. Their failure to demonstrate significant professional growth probably led to their demise. Their later songs seemed repetitious of their earlier works. Nevertheless, this collection showcases them at their peak and well represents the music of this period.
