5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful melange of 60s Latin sounds. Aural silk!
This album brought back warm and delightful memories of my youthful experiences in the 1960s. "More", played in the only way that it should be, is an all-time favourite and is as exotic now as it was 30 years ago. "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" will be forever associated with Tony Bennett but this Latin version is equally splendid...

2.0 out of 5 stars Best of Laurindo Almeida & the Bossa Nova All Stars
I am a classical guitarist and I love the music of Laurindo Almeida. I ordered this CD expecting to hear excellent Bossa Nova that would have the cool sounds of Jobim combined with the steady, wonderful rhythms of this genre. Instead, I have a CD of elevator music. This album brought back warm and delightful memories of my youthful experiences in the 1960s. "More", played in the only way that it should be, is an all-time favourite and is as exotic now as it was 30 years ago. "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" will be forever associated with Tony Bennett but this Latin version is equally splendid. "Desafinado" is synonymous with Laurindo Almeida and the two go together as if destiny deemed it. All told, a wonderful recording and one that should certainly form the centre-piece of the collection of even the most critical of Bossa Nova afficianados.

I am a classical guitarist and I love the music of Laurindo Almeida. I ordered this CD expecting to hear excellent Bossa Nova that would have the cool sounds of Jobim combined with the steady, wonderful rhythms of this genre. Instead, I have a CD of elevator music. The dominant instrument in this combo is an organ. Now, organs are not bad if played by a competent player, such as one hears in Perez Prado. But this organ reminded me more of what one hears at high mass. Save your money. Dr. Richard J. Beck
