5.0 out of 5 stars This is early fusion Rit
Don't be confused by the bad reviews. This CD is a compilation of songs from Rit's first two albums - First Course and Captain Fingers. It's rockier and more electric than his later "smooth jazz" outings. In fact, my only complaint is that "Space Glide" was not included. Space Glide is the first song I ever heard by Rit back in 1980 - it changed my musical direction...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing -- buy "The Very Best of ..." instead
I accidently bought this instead of the stupidly similarly named "The Very Best of Lee Ritenour". The latter is quite excellent, the former though is incredibly dull by comparison. Make sure you buy the right one.

I read one review of this on a music website in which the reviewer stated that Ritenour must even be credited as one of the forefathers of acid jazz.

This is an awesome CD - but, yes, smooth jazz purists, beware.

Excellent guitarrist. Allways one of my favorites.
His virtuosity is completely performed in this album.
I recommend it.

This CD is a big mistake...Don't buy...Just like the other reviewer stated...buy (the very best of Lee Ritnour).
When they remastered the CD they did a poor job.No gain, detail no nothing....
If you do have this CD I recommend contacting the number on the CD.They sent me a return envelope and had me pick another CD of my choice that they carry...
