5.0 out of 5 stars Like No Other., December 10, 2003
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
I respect these guys because they were very original and all their tracks were different in some sort of way. Don't believe all that crap about them being pure bubblegum... no, that was a false title; they were more psychadelic than anything. They were just given such a title due to a couple of their hits which happened to be bubblegum.

Sure there was "Green Tambourine" and "Jelly Jungle," but that doesn't mean they were all that was worth listening to of this band of oddities. Real spotlights of this album consist of "Blueberry Blue," "Ask Me If I Care," "Catch Me Falling," and my all-time favorite "Everything Is You." All very unique in their own way, and, in my opinion, they exceed "Green Tambourine" in every way. This album only has a few tracks that aren't too great (two or three) but really, the majority is well worth the money. If you want to hear something new, try this one out. Just don't expect to find anybody in this lifetime that shares such an interest, unless you force somebody to hear them. Unfortunately, nobody is interested in trying out unusual/dated music nowadays....

My only complaint is the lack of the remaining four Lemon Piper recordings "Quiet Please," "Danger," "Hard Core," and "I Need Someone (The Painter)." The only way you can hear these is by purchasing other Lemon Piper Greatest Hits compilations, meaning you'll pretty much have three copies of this one, with the exception of an extra track or two. Pft! Its a scheme I tell you....

Good collection from this one hit wonder group, features their smash song green tambourine. Also features their other singles they released plus b sides and a few album tracks and a couple of psychedelic tracks they wrote themselves.Remastered well with colorful packaging short bio on the group, but sadly no pictures in inlay.A part from this just another one of their compilations with not much more variation on the songs compiled.

I was shocked at how wonderful this compilation is...excellent musicianship and strong psych songs. Green Tambourine should have alerted me to them a long time ago.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lemon Heads rejoice, September 3, 2008

The Lemon Pipers were an every Sunday event for me when I was a teen.
They were a local band in Cincinnati, and one of the best. The CD is great and takes me right back to the better days. They were an amazing group to see live. I saw them when they were still doing mostly cover songs. Great players. I just saw them again for the 40 year reunion.
Ivan Brown flew in from California to do the show. It was a great time.
The CD is very good, and it is very unusual. 1967 anyone?
