Uneven sound quality buries some great stuff,
By Mark (Scottsdale, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best of Lightnin Hopkins (Audio CD)
Really enjoyed Hopkins' Texas Blues on Arhoolie and figured the "best of" would be more of the same. However, the uneven sound quality (which changes drastically from song to song) is annoying. Great versions of Mojo Hand and Please Settle in Vietnam survive intact, but several others, including a great alternate take of Tim Moore's Farm, are ruined by noise. Buy Texas Blues and look elsewhere for the other tracks.
