4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for the price
Great value. My kid likes it a lot. No missing pieces. I had to help me build because the instructions could be hard to follow. Overall a good purchase. He wants more now.

1.0 out of 5 stars I do not recommend
After years of building Lego's with my son I decided to try the Best Lock. What a mistake. The instructions were hard to follow, the pieces would not fit together very well and it kept falling apart.

My sons love legos and they love army guys, so I thought we'd give it a try. I figured at most we'd be out $10. I think this set might be a little higher in price now. Yep, bascially out $10. Pieces don't "snap" together and hold like Legos causing a great deal of frustration to our youngest. I'm tempted to get out the super glue. The set we ordered was missing a few pieces too. The little minifigures were the best part. I've had better luck with the mega block brand than this.

I am surprised by the negative reviews. These best-lock bricks are great, and the designs are just as ingenious as the "real" lego ones. The instructions are very clear. I actually like them more than lego instructions, because each stage of model building contains a list of parts needed as well as an illustration of where the parts go. Mega blocks, I agree, are pretty low class but not these.

I acknowledge that lego might have some reason to be annoyed by these guys, but the consumer doesn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for its price, November 22, 2010

I bought these for my son for his 6th birthday, and he loves them. I bought another set from the same company last year. The blocks aren't quite as good as Lego, no, but we didn't have any problem getting them to go together, and they've stayed together after hours of play, and they instructions were simple enough to be followed by a six-year-old after building a piece together and teaching him how to read them.

Lego brand bricks are a bit higher quality, and might hold up a bit more if, say, a finished piece is dropped from a few feet, but consider this: This set, made by Lego, would be around $50. For the price of this item, I could have bought my kids a 20-piece Lego motorcycle, or a whole freaking army.

Since Lego has pushed their prices through the roof, I've tried several alternatives. This is, so far, the best on.

I love that the kids are using their imaginations along with other skills to build things.
