Let me start out by saying I only bought this set for 2 reasons:

1) I was actually ordering something else and I was a little more than $5 away from reaching the FREE Super Saver Shipping option. This set was on sale for $[...] so it fit the bill.

2) I saw that it came with a base plate and I know that even the Best Lock brand base plates alone sell for $6-$7 at Toys R Us.

I had bought other Best Lock sets from Amazon before and I've had mixed results. Aside from the usual complaints about Best Lock sets (poorly molded pieces, hard to assemble, pieces won't grip or hold together well, etc...) this set was the absolute worst. It only had enough pieces to build the "house". I couldn't even begin building either the helicopter or the car with the remaining pieces, so their claim that this set has "enough to build everything shown in the image - at the same time - plus more" is patently false. Needless to say that I will never buy any more Best Lock merchandise.

The ONLY reason for buying this set, in my opinion, would be for the base plate (and that's only if the set was on sale). Stay away from this set otherwise, folks. It's just a waste of money

My son owns Lego's and these are nothing at all like Lego's. They will work with Lego's. The quality is very poor and the pieces will not fit together all of the time. Some pieces will have excess flashing still on them. Some of the pieces are warped and unusable. Some of the directions are color illustrated, some are not. I had to throw several pieces away as they would never work. That being said, I ended up with a large amount of pieces that did work properly. Although I wasn't able to complete what was illustrated, it made my Lego collection much larger for a very low price. Some of the pieces in these sets are not in normal Lego pieces, but work with them. Thus, giving you a unique piece. All said and done I am happy about my purchase. I got these when they were 70 percent off. 'A+' for Amazon's shipping and handling as always!

After reading the reviews of this product, I decided to try them out myself before handing them off to any children. As noted, these are not of the same quality as Legos. The colors are slightly off, and the plastic seems to feel different as well. They snap together fairly well. A few seemed too tight a fit, and a few were too loose and fell apart somewhat easily. Mostly when I had problems with fit, I could either snap the next piece on top, or switch pieces and go on. The kit does make all of the items shown in the picture, but not at the same time. These are not as good as Legos, but if you only have a small amount of money to spend, they are a good value for the price.
