'Best Loved Favourites' was recorded in 1989 and contains a fine selection of both new and previously recorded tracks by Slim and for someone, who was then in his 66th year he was still in superb Voice.

In my Opinion , tracks such as 'Down in the Valley', 'MockingBird Hill' and 'Tennesse Waltz' are better than the original's recorded by Slim and Cara Mia, comes close.

Of the new tracks 'The Three Bells' is pure magic, closely followed by 'Half as Much', 'It is no Secret','Release Me', 'Red Sails in The Sunset and 'Till I Waltz Again With You'.

I believe this Album at the time, became the greatest selling Album advertised on T.V in The United States and if only it had been released and promoted in the U.K at that time, I think it would have been possibly even more successful. It was arguably, the best Whitman release in 10 to 12 yrs.

Unfortunately, it was only released piecemeal in the U.K. after about 1994 and on about 3 or 4 different Labels. This was yet another typical example of a 'Missed Opportunity' by those responsible for promoting Slim and which has characterised most of his 53 year career.

In the past it was hard to get albums of slim whitman in Holland, now these day's it's much harder to get a CD of slim whitman.I love the music of slim whitman and I will keep on searchin for CD's.I also like music of Frank Ifield, Marty Robbins and Bobby Goldsboro.
I don't believe that this CD was released in holland, I never have seen or heard it.I love the sound of the "old" country songs, and perhaps someone over there can help me, and tell me me where to buy or seargh for these records.
