Book Description

Indigo Love Spectrum April 1, 2009
Eliza Tahan, assistant editor at J Press, worries she might become the target of a disgruntled author after her boss is murdered and a form rejection letter is found on the scene. Though her boss is the star of the company, it's Eliza that actually makes decisions for the department. And the murderer must have realized his mistake, because Eliza's suddenly a target.

Toss in a tragic family history, an absent mother in Botswana, and a sister working for the Department of Homeland Security and stealing the family spotlight... and Eliza can barely hold her life together at a level of normalcy. She's certainly not equipped to be solving murders. As she argues, "I'm not a detective. I'm a mystery editor. I don't know whodunit until I read the last pages of a manuscript."

But when the Editor of the local newspaper's book section becomes more than just a professional acquaintance, their growing passion urges Eliza to overcome her past and her passivity to find the author-turned-murderer before she is pegged with the crime or, worse yet, before she or someone she loves becomes the next victim.

--San Diego Union-Tribune, and Today's Local News (review by Lillian Cox)

"BEST OF LUCK ELSEWHERE was a quiet story that became a mystery... it kept me in suspense as she highlighted how things are never as they seem." --RAWSISTAZ™ (Review by Ann Brown)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Start..........., April 12, 2009
This review is from: Best of Luck Elsewhere (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this novel. There was a good amount of mystery, mixed in with romance. I can relate to Eliza's feelings of not knowing where her life is going and I think the author described this perfectly. I fell in love with Adam myself and wonder if there is an Adam out there for me! LOL! Reader will not be disappointed with this story. Great start for Trisha

4.0 out of 5 stars I Never Saw This Coming!, May 3, 2009

This review is from: Best of Luck Elsewhere (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Paperback)
As an avid reader, it was interesting to read a story with a mystery that centered around the drama in the publishing industry. Eliza Tahan, assistant editor at J Press, is trying to decide how to change her life. She has a boss she almost hates and an engagement which ended because her fiancé is gay. Currently Eliza and her 'ex' still share a condo, in separate bedrooms of course, and a supportive friendship. Eliza does a quick interview with Adam Mestas, book section editor for The San Diego Union-Tribune, hours before she takes off on a vacation to Greece. The trip is to restart her life; alas, Eliza returns still stuck in mediocrity.

The backdrop to Eliza's life is a tragic family history, an absentee mother, and an overprotective sister, who works for the Department of Homeland Security. Even though Eliza always envied her sister they are still best friends. Her mundane life changes when her boss dies in an automobile accident with a form rejection letter in the car. Since Eliza is the person who actually rejects manuscripts, something that was revealed in her interview, she is now afraid she might be the target of a disgruntled author. Eliza's life becomes more tense when more automobile accidents occur to people who are connected to her. Will she become the next victim? Her emotional stability is entangled with Adam, who has becomes more than a professional acquaintance. But, there is still a killer on the loose.

BEST OF LUCK ELSEWHERE was a quiet story that became a mystery. At one point at least three different people were suspects. The timing of the automobile accidents became key to the mystery and the blossoming relationship between Eliza and Adam added the romantic backdrop the story needed. The characters were not overly developed, but enough information was shared to get a good feel for their personalities. The ending was not anticipated, but surprisingly believable. For me, the ending could have left readers with a better feel for the murderer. With that said, I enjoyed Haddad's freshman adventure it kept me in suspense as she highlighted how things are never as they seem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a book by its cover!, April 24, 2009

I was a bit hesitant at first with Best of Luck Elsewhere based on the fact that the cover looks a little like it was designed in MS Word, but I'm glad I picked it up because what was inside was sheer bliss. First off, there's plenty of steam in the love scenes, but between them is a surprisingly deep and engrossing mystery story (that had me guessing "whodunnit" until the shocking and satisfying end) full of intriguing, unique characters and clever, suspenseful writing. From the first few pages I was hooked. I also enjoyed seeing landmarks from my native San Diego pop up throughout the book. I HIGHLY recommend Best of Luck Elsewhere and cannot wait to read what Trisha writes next!
