The Best, March 1, 2002
By A Customer
I saw The Best Man of Grass Creek when it premiered in Indiana. What a breath of fresh air. This is a movie with an old-fahioned love theme in the styles of the 1950s movies. It's clean, wholesome and thoroughly enjoyable! Set in a rural Indiana farm setting, the characters are real and captured my heart. (It was filmed on location and used lots of locals who were great in their parts!) Humorous? wait till you see the dinner table scene! And the musical score is fantastic. I found myself humming the tune all the way home. This movie keeps you wondering what's around the corner. Never a dull moment. DEFINITELY a must see movie. Enjoy!!!

Heartwarming, Uplifting and Side-splitting!, September 28, 2001
First of all, let me just say that you may think me a bit bias, as I was lucky enough to be an extra in this film (for about 2 seconds.) However, all that was revealed about the movie was that it was based on the true story of a man who, after getting stood up at the alter, could no longer "stomach" attending wedding cermonies, but somehow gets roped into another one.
I missed every preview and was heartbroken not to see my "film debut," but finally saw the movie at a local theater as a paying customer.
As I watched the film, it became clear that my part in the production was over in the first 2 minutes of the movie (meaning I still have approximately 13 minutes of fame to look forward to.) The rest of the story was all new to me.
It was the best money I've ever spent. The portrayal of the heart of Hoosiers, even in the simplest of settings, was very true to life. Also, the way our "low delight level" was presented throughout the story just goes to show how happy we, as people, can be when surrounded by, well, mostly nothing but land and each other.
I truly believe that this is a film that would be great for all Americans to see. The recent events of Sept. 11th have opened many peoples' eyes as to what is really important in life, and that is exactly what this film portrays!
It truly is a film coming in to its own time. It shows us all how we can laugh at ourselves and each other...together!
More importantly, it shows that we can all get along with each other, help each other, and learn from each other no matter where we are from; and that if you can't do that, you need to look inside yourself, identify your fears and face them. What a lesson!

Grass Creek Pastor loves movie, June 18, 2002
This review is from: Best Man in Grass Creek [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am the present pastor of Grass Creek United Methodist Church. It's the only church in Grass Creek, Indiana. I came after the filming was completed. The movie was shot on several locations in our area. The church used was actually Fletcher's Lake UMC because of it's location. The movie was wonderful! Many of our own locals were featured and we enjoyed viewing the movie with some who acted in it. They gave us background information. This is a movie that the whole family can enjoy. I can't wait to get my copy. I'm sorry it didn't do better in the theaters. It should win an award. My son is a film studies student at IU and said it was one of the best films he's seen in a long time. Kudos to all who were involved.
