Great Solo Marvin,
By Kevman (White Plains, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best of Marvin Gaye, Vol. 1: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Eco-Friendly Packaging) (Audio CD)
The great early hit songs of Marvin are all here. No duets with the ladies here, just Marvin. There are alot of MG collections out there, but I listen to this the most as there is nothing here I need to skip over. I think his best stuff was the solo tunes, not the duets. Good sound quality and great tunes. Recommeneded.

A Marvin Gaye collection for the ages!,
By Johnny Boy "The Record Collector" (Hockessin, DE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 20th Century Masters (Audio CD)
Marvin Gaye has sort of become the face of Motown. His songs are among the most inspirational of all-time. This 20th Century Masters CD focuses on his 1960s Motown sides as opposed to his 1970s sides for the label.
Positives -EVERY ONE OF HIS '60s HITS ARE HERE! 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine,' 'How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You),' 'I'll Be Doggone,' and 'Hitch Hike' are all here. -The sound quality is excellent. Negatives None. This is an excellent purchase if your looking for Marvin Gaye's legendary 1960s catalog. Well worth the money. ENJOY!!!

The best of Marvin's work after Tammi and before his masterpiece,

Marvin Gaye/ The Best of...Volume 1 - The 60's/ The Millennium Collection: Having all of Marvin Gaye's great albums from "What's Going On" to his last album, I wanted a good representation of his work before those years. I filled that need by buying the "Greatest hits of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell" and this "volume 1 of the Marvin Gaye Millennium Collection" (which nicely covers the best of Marvin after Tammi died and before he created his "What's Going On" masterpiece). I recommend this CD for those who are also seeking to fill the gaps of his early career.
