long awaited,
This review is from: Best of Me (Audio CD)
I don't know exactly when I realised, that Bryan Adams is doing the music I want to listen to. As far as I remember I appreciated his songs since I was old enough to turn on the radio on my own (don't laugh, I'm only 18 years old). But some years ago I was completely caught by the magic of Bryan's music. I bought every CD that exists (well almost every...I couldn manage to get rid of the asian releases) and as I heard that "the best of me" will be released in Austria I was one of the first who bought the CD. It was about the time I experienced my first live concert of Bryan and I thought nothing could be compared to this event. Well when I played the CD for the first time I felt the same with this album. Truly the most shaking "best of"-album released ever, although I think Bryan's best hits could fill 2 CD's, not only one. I like the artwork of the cover and the inlay as well. Dirk Rudolph did a good job there. And Bryan did a good job with most of the black/white-photographes as well. These are the titles: 1. The Best of me: This track makes its way into the hall of fame of the best lovesongs ever written. 2. Can't stop this thing we started: You might stop a hurricane, but this title is unstopable. A great song if you want to know wheather you are alife or not by turning on your HiFi. 3. I'm ready: actualy this one is a live version from MTV unplugged, a more slow version than the original rock balade. It gives me shivers down my spire everytime I hear the powerfull music starts to play. 4. summer of '69: the storry of 10 year old Bryan trying to play his first guitar. THE song that stands for Bryan Adams. It has been voted 3rd best song ever in Austria. A truly timeless rock song. 5. let's make a night to remember: I like the song, especialy when I'm in love. It's a real great song, full of desire and the woman he wrote it for must be a real special person. 6. all for love: I bought the single when it was out, because I liked the film the three musketeers that featured the song as a soundtrack. The three of them (BA, Sting, Rod Steward) did a great work with the song. 7. have you ever really loved a woman: The spanish guitar and gives a flair of "la vida espagna". The song from the film Don Huan de Marco (I hope it's spelled like that). 8. run to you: one of Bryan's classic hits, I think that it's best experienced live... 9. cloud number nine (chicane mix): I personaly like the chicane mix better than the original and the song is a great product of the cooperation between two great artists. There are two lines: "now he hurt you and you hurt me" that I think everyone who has ever loved in vain is familiar with. But this song of course is a "happy end" song as almost everyone of Bryan's titles. 10. I do it for you: Soundtrack to: Robin Hood - Prince of theves. His best song if you ask me. Moving and powerfull alike. Actualy this is the one I always appreciated, before I even knew that I like Bryan Adams. 11. back to you: An unplugged version. Mickey Curry unbeatable on the drums. In the end it reminds me of the title song to "a mountie in chicago" 12. when you are gone: great duet, though not the best ever, but truly a good one. 13. please forgive me: second best lovesong by him. Im almost crying everytime I hear this one. 14. the only thing that looks good on me is you: I didn't like this one until I heard it live at the concert. But now I'm glad it's featured on the CD. 15. inside out: almost as good as please forgive me (the video is also on the CD, I was surprised to discover it when I tried to run the disk on my computer. A feature that enriches the CD! check it out! ) If you thought that's all, you are wrong. There is another surprise: Everyone awaits 15 titles, but there is a 16th, that is not written on the cover: It's the second title by the BA/chicane project - don't give up. If you don't know wheather you should buy this album or not, here's my advice: BUY IT !

awesome!,

Bryan Adams broke a lot of new ground since his 1993 greatest hits album "So Far So Good". "18 til i die" was an amazing album, mixing pop & hard rock together. his unplugged album again did the unexpected, showing a whole lot of experimentation with various instruments & rearranging previous songs in a new style. then came "on a day like today" which again, was very different, some songs dark & brooding, some gentle, some of them loud enough to blow your speakers. so it's no wonder he's released another best of album! this special edition has a few extra stuff too. here's the track list:- 1. the best of me 2. can't stop this thing we started 3. i'm ready 4. summer of '69 5. Let's Make A Night To Remember 6. All for love 7. have you ever really loved a woman? 8. run to you 9. cloud #9 (chicane mix) 10. (everything i do) i do it for you 11. back to you 12. when you're gone 13. please forgive me 14. the only thing that looks good on me is you 15.inside out. (bonus: enhanced "inside out" video, special ghost track: don't give it up (with chicane)) disc 2 has 5 live tracks: summer of '69, back to you, can't stop this thing we started, have you ever really loved a woman?, rock steady. so what are you waiting for?

This album is a great one, surely a classic. If you didn't listen to Bryan before, start with this album. It's a perfect collection of his classics like Summer of 69, Everything I do(I do it for you) and many more. It also contains the new single Best of me. But what's so special with this special edition is the 2nd CD. It contains live recordings of Summer of 69, Back to you, Can't stop this thing we started, Have you ever really loved a woman, and Rock Steady. I'm sure you'll love these live recordings with perfect quality. Specially live version of BACK TO YOU is the one every fan must have. I strongly advice you to buy this CD. Enjoy it.

Bryan Adams Is Truly One Of The Best,
This review is from: Best of Me (Audio CD)
Carrying on from where his '93 release So Far So Good left off, The Best Of Me looks at the most recent chapter in Bryan's great musical career. Featuring all his biggest hits from the last seven years including classics such as Let's Make A Night To Remember and Have You Ever Love A Woman with Paco Da Lucia on the spanish guitar to more rare tracks like Back To You and the title track The Best Of Me. Whether the hits were big or small is not really relevant as no matter what this CD is great from start to finish. Also included on this CD are some older tracks from So Far So Good like Summer Of '69 and Everything I Do(I Do It For You) - two of my all time favourite songs. This doesn't detract from the newer music available it enhances it and you can see how Bryan has progressed from his rock music to more gentler yet still as good middle of the road pop songs. If you think you're only getting 15 tracks then you're wrong. There is a hidden track of Don't Give Up, Bryan's UK No 1 single with Chicane and this is a welcome and diverse inclusion. Also the bonus live CD is exceptionally good as well and highlights how good Bryan can perform live. My favourite tracks include When You're Gone (with Mel C), the Three Musketeers song All For Love and the brilliant The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You. The diversity of this CD is so great and that's what makes Bryan the great musician he is and possibly Canada's greatest ever.

Brian,the best,

It's all so typical and yet so unique. Bryan Adams comes up with the goods all the time and makes it look so easy and so refined every time he does. "The Best of Me" is another of that kind which mesmerises the listener and let him loose the taut chords in his heart."The Best of Me" is obviously that CD which comprises of songs stretching from hard rock to more gentle tracks to plain pop. Here the most ardent of Brian Adams's fan would be awe-striken by the variety that he brings to his songsand his music."The Best of Me" is the perfect fashion to start this CD as the encharming voice combined with some vociferous music awakens the deepest desert of the heart from its slumber. All the other tracks are classic and you simply can't piock out one which is a bogus. You rewind again again your recorder to listen to "Summer of 69","Cloud Number 9","Have You Really Loved a Woman" and "(Everything I do) I Do It For You" is a marvellous, marvellous song that wipes off the stress from your mind and lets you ease off all your anxieties. The magic of Bryan Adams dwells in his unique ability to paint the true picture of love and this enactment claws out the essence of the man himself. True art is accomplished when the artist is able to make art his central idea by keeping him in the doldrums and in all of his music, Bryan Adams lets his art do the talking.

Bryan Adams Must Be Stopped,
By "jazzlawyer" (Kelowna, BC Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Best of Me (Audio CD)
If you're not convinced that Bryan Adams must be stopped after lisenting to this album, you probably are beyond help. Adams is the worst of incencere radio pop, and if rock and roll is really dead someone had better check Bryan for the smoking gun. It's a rare artist whose can add artistic legimacy to his career by doing a song with a Spice Girl.
