This is a nice selection of favorites from Felix Mendelssohn on Naxos, the award-winning classical label. Recognizable themes from Midsummer Night's Dream, his First Piano Concerto, as well as the "Scottish" and "Italian" Symphonies are included. A wonderful rendition of the Hebrides Overture, as well as a very nice slow movement from Mendelssohn's excellent Violin Concerto also appear here. Rounding out the CD are a couple of pieces for solo piano. This great budget classical label, Naxos, has continued to pump out many marvelous recordings for over 20 years now. I personally can vouch for their quality, as I own over 100 Naxos CDs myself. The price is nice, and the quality is likewise. Recommended.

Many art collectors say, "I'm not an expert, but I lknow what I like." So it is with me. I am not a classical music expert, but there are some classic selections that particularly appeal to me. I was introduced to Mendelssohn's "Fingal's Cave Overture" (Hebrides Overture) as a teenager and at age 80, I am enjoying a happy reunion with it on this CD collection.
