Michael Henderson throws down on this Best of that Highlights His slow Jams&also Highlights His funky Stuff.very Versatile Musician from the word go.He has been doing Sessions&other Projects for many years.His Voice is on Point here as well."Valentine Love" is the cut.Wide Reciever" still slams.Very Underrated Talent.really Good Songwriter,Producer&all around Musician.

Michael Henderson, outstanding jazz bassist and R&B singer in one package ! I brought the CD just for the song At the Concert with Roberta Flack...

I FOUND THIS CD TO BE A WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF MICHAEL HENDERSON'S WORK. I ENJOYED EVERY SONG, ESPECIALLY, "AT THE CONCERT." YOU DON'T HERE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC ANYMORE AND IT WAS REFRESHING.

I was happy when I saw I could finally find the album on amazon. I was surprised to know I really love this treasure that I have found. Micheal Henderson was lost to me until I heard him on xm radio. I had not remembered some of the great songs of Mr. Henderson. I have been wonderfully rewarded. I am really thankful for web sites like amazon.com. Without their help I would not know where to find music from back in the day.

In my opinion, Michael Henderson is one of those singers who most people need to give more credit too. His voice is very soothing, like chamomile tea, and it's not too strong or overbearing. I personally like his duets, especially with Phyllis Hyman. My favorite songs are You are My Starship, and Can't We Fall In Love Again.

Back in the day...the late '70s...I discovered Michael Henderson inadvertently. The song "You Are My Starship" -- a knockout romantic ballad...was credited to Norman Connors. Accurate, yes -- but the great vocal was that of Michael Henderson. WHO?? Well, I had to find out. So I bought the LP "Solid." And then "In The Night-Time." And still, altho' he got some airplay on the R&B stations...and had a few hits...nobody in my caucasian world would know him from Adam (and the Ants...or whoever...). Pity, that.
This guy is a GREAT talent. I've been pining for a CD of his for years, and figured that Greatest Hits would do. It certainly does. Not only "Starship," but two versions of the BEST valentine tune I've ever heard, "Valentine Love." And Henderson does duets with ease; Jean Carn, Roberta Flack, Phyllis Hyman...don't matter. And he covers Jackie Wilson with "To Be Loved," no mean feat. But as soon as I heard "Be My Girl" again...oh yeah...I was back in the day...so do yourself a favor, and take a chance on this one. If you don't find half a dozen nuggets that stick to your musical mind like flypaper, I'll be surprised...

Only ordered this CD to get ONE song, "Wide Receiver" but there were so many others on there I had forgotten about. Transaction went very smoothly and I received it in a very timely manner.

Michael Henderson is one of the great singer. This CD has all of his classic hits. He is really one of the all time greats.

I bought this album as a way to reconnect to some of the music from my youth and upon listening to it when it arrived I was instantly transported back to those days!This best of compilation truly gives you some of the more memorable tracks form MH...one of the premier bass musicians and singers from the not too distant past(I still have his work on vinyl).Now that I have gotten a re-taste of how great his music was and is I am set on buying as much of his body of work in digital format as I can get my hands on.This would be a great intro to the classic funk/jazz/R&B/ sound for anyone looking to reminisce or experience great music played by great musicians!

This version is missing the cut "(We Are Here) To Geek You Up", I have the earlier release which has the cut at number 12, the earlier version has 15 cuts which is basically the same as this one minus the song mentioned earlier.

"Geek You Up" is a funky masterpiece.
