5.0 out of 5 stars You Cant Beat the Mighty Clouds of Joy!!
these guys are great. pounds of soul each song. if you like the old time gospel, you will like this. not overproduced, almost raw. the message, the style, the delivery, all flawless. if you like rock and roll, if you like r and b, if you like real country(not the pop of today) and for sure if you like gospel, this is for you.
they have several cds from this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Atonal scream
I love to hear the great screamers: James Brown, Wilson Pickett, and Bobby Bland, to name a few. Contrarily, Mighty Clouds' lead, Joe Ligons, may have the most annoying and atonal scream outside heavy metal. Pass on this one.

they have several cds from this decade, and you average gospel fan will like it, but for me, its just to cleanly produced, it lacks the raw sound of their early days.

i live in new orleans, and when we finally got back after that Kat, riding my bike months later i found a huge stack of gospel records outside a library, marked free. the records were mainly local congregations, they were water logged, only a couple played, one was the mighty clouds, it knocked me off my feet. it opened my eyes to a whole new world of gospel music, at that time i was into historical gospel music, with intense bass drums and singing, i began to see why the older people say rock aint nuttin but gospel through effects and praising the devil. its true, thoese cats were bad!!!!!!! it was harcdore funky with no hangover. you actually felt better after you heard it. this is what soul is all about. and at 6.98$ delivered to your door, you can not go wrong.

this music is

a wah pedal away from funkadelic

percussion short of sun ra
