If you know and love the production work/traxx of MTUME & LUCAS, you will jump for joy at this UK import CD that lovingly compiles many of their best songs, including classic 70s/80s soul nuggets from STEPHANIE MILLS, PHYLLIS HYMAN, MTUME, and more - especially RARE tracks by MARC SADANE, SUNFIRE, RENA SCOTT, and more - they just don't make music like this anymore, so this amazing compilation CD is both stunning yet bittersweet - it really takes you back to a different time and place. Side note: after MTUME did JUICY FRUIT and LUCAS produced most of MADONNA's debut album, the prolific R&B/disco partnership would never be the same. Now, let's hope Expansion reissues the long lost MTUME singer TAWATHA AGEE's solo 80s album - she sang back-up for the late LUTHER and others - and lends her strong vocals to several tracks here.

THIS IS A GREAT CD THAT SHOWCASES THE PRODUCTION TALENTS OF JAMES MTUME AND REGGIE LUCAS. THESE GUYS WROTE GREAT SONGS AND ASSEMBLED THE BEST MUSICIANS AND VOCALISTS TO MAKE EACH OF THESE ARTISTS SHINE. RENA SCOTT IS FEATURED ON THE SONG "IF I HAD A CHANCE" AND THE SUPPORTING VOCALS BY TAWATHA AGEE, BRENDA WHITE-KING AND THE LATE GWEN GUTHRIE ARE ANGELIC. IT WOULD BE REALLY WONDERFUL IF MANY OF THE ALBUMS FROM WHICH THE SONGS WERE OBTAINED WERE REISSUED ON CD. IF YOU LIKE TO DANCE THIS IS A CD YOU MIGHT WANT TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION.
