I feel like I know Nellie just by the material she chooses and how she presents it. While there are some poignant songs which are performed very well, she just seems to have a lot of fun singing. Great syncopations with reserved power. She plays her own romping piano too. I love Nellie and am buying this album for several friends.

Jazz always filled my childhood home. I use to like to listen to my parent's Jazz albums as a child growing up. My parents had a Nellie Lutcher 78, I use to listen to it all the time. I do not have a turn table that will play 78's. This best of Nellie Lutcher CD has all of the tunes I loved and then some. I can't wait to get the CD so I can listen to her music again! It's been years...

Never heard of Nellie? Me neither - until I heard "Fine Brown Frame." Buy this album and prepare to be wowed by her amazing phrasing, playfulness, sauce and energy. You won't know what hit you!

This is the CD that contains most of her hits, many of which occured between 1947 and 1953. The sound quality is terrific and Nellie is, well, Nellie. If you are not familiar with her music you are in for a real treat. She accompanies herself on the piano and sings up a storm! Her band sizzles as well.

I remember, way back when, when the Fine Brown Frame was so special and wonderful .. we didn't know Lutcher ... only the fine brown frame. Now, listening to it and the other Lutchers ... maybe 40 or 50 years after the fact, I am blown over. She's just the best. Mumbling and beebling along with those nimble fingers .... no one's rhythm is better. Every song is not the best, but there's enough wonderfulness for you to say, "how have I missed this all my life?"

Tiger Morse loved her. We both were excited by her delicate touch, her idea of a melody floating over the ordinary .. so different from anything that was easily grabbed ...

My grandma and I were sitting on the couch and a song came on by this woman and she said she wished she had the CD of her and within 5 minutes on amazon.com, I had the CD all ordered and on its way and when it arrived, she was so ecstatic!

I saw Nellie in New York while on my honeymoon in 1948--she can take you on
a humorous ride that makes you want to jump to the rythym. This CD is a great collection of her
bouncy tunes--well-worth the purchase.
