Why no extended "CatDog" song?,

This review is from: Best of Nicktoons (Audio CD)
This is the first of two Nicktoons compilation albums, featuring musical highlights from "Rugrats" (that's tracks 3-9), "KaBlam!" (tracks 11-13), "The Ren & Stimpy Show" (tracks 15-19), "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters" (tracks 21-23), "The Angry Beavers" (tracks 25-27), "Hey Arnold" (tracks 29-33), and "Rocko's Modern Life" (tracks 35-38), as well as the standard version of the "CatDog" theme song, a supposedly "bonus track". All the other tracks are "Nick On-Air Music", some of which are sound clips of bumpers from the network during the mid-to-late 90's.The songs from "Rugrats", "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters", "The Angry Beavers", and "Hey Arnold!" are apparently original studio recordings, as they don't have sound effects getting in the way of the songs. "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy", "Ren's Pecs", and "Kilted Yaksmen Anthem" are ripped from the earlier "You Eediot!" album, but strangely, the version of "Dog Pound Hop" featured here is the TV version and not the extended version featured on said album. Unfortunately, the "CatDog" theme song is also not the extended version. Also unfortunate is that the "Rocko" songs, "Log Commercial", and "Haunted Train Blues" sound more like sound clips from the episodes they were featured in. The same can also be said for "Thunder Girl Flying" and "Kablammy Song" (the first of which is just a ten-second sound clip of Thunder Girl singing to herself), but the "Kablam!" theme itself is also a studio recording! The CD comes with a lyrics booklet, but it's not a very good lyrics booklet. They print the words of the songs themselves, but they don't tell you which character is saying which line. (For example, although Gerald sings the "Haunted Train Blues" himself, Helga interrupts with "That's it!" at the end, but the booklet doesn't say that Helga says it.)

Little Mediocre, But Good Nonetheless.,

"The Best of Nicktoons" is a great album compared to its follow-up, "The Newest Nicktoons," which had no other songs for "SpongeBob SquarePants,""Rocket Power," "Invader ZIM," "Pelswick," "ChalkZone," and "The Fairly OddParents" besides the theme songs. The only highlights are all the Nicktoons that are on Nicktoons Network now: "Rugrats," "Ren and Stimpy," "Rocko's Modern Life," "Hey Arnold," & "CatDog." Sadly, "AAAHH! Real Monsters," "KaBlam," and "The Angry Beavers" are not on Nicktoons Network anymore (I still like it however). And where's the Doug songs? I think Doug was stuck in repeats and they couldn't find anything. Also, where's the stuff from "The Wild Thornberrys" and "Oh Yeah! Cartoons"? Anyway I can't really listen to it because my copy's missing and I don't know where it is. However...HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!

i think they should do a cd with all the old cartoons. they put a lot of good songs like ren & stimpy and ahh real monsters ect. but they should have put more themes instead of like 5 themes and just other songs that are in the show

It had too much Rugrats and too little CatDog, And CatDog has a lot of songs in it. And they shouldnt put a ten second commercial tune? No one would really bother to listen to it. But im glad that they put the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" in it and the "Kilted Yaksmen" in it. I am a fan of "Ren and Stimpy".It wasnt the best, but not the worst. A good CD to get to refresh your memory of things Like "Angry Beavers" and "Rocko's Modern Life"

I really hate to the the bearer of bad news, but this CD mostly sucked. Even though the first person to interview a CD says good things about it, I have to let myself be heard. The title , "The Best of Nicktoons," doesn't fit. With all the ....yuck... "Rugrats" songs, the title should be "The Best of the Rugrats." The only thing that got my eyes on this CD was "The Angry Beavers" songs. The theme is catchy and I'm STILL humming it! "Beach Beaver A Go-Go" is a sure family hit! And the lovers' song, "I Think I Like You," guest stars Treeflower. Only three Beaver songs on on the forty CD songs. Another disappointent: Where's "Beaver Fever?" This ong is the top disco of the year. And not to mention the video. (Yeah, Norbert and Daggett, you guys rule!). The only other thing that is appeeling is the "CatDog" theme. Catchy and fast, this song shows the ture meaning of the show. And I'm not buying this CD. Really. It stunk. (Except for the things I liked.) I'll borrow and record the Beaver and CatDog songs for myself. I'm still waiting for "The Angry Beavers" CD. And one more thing: "THE ANGRY BEAVERS RULE!!!!"
