5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT BEGINNINGS...A LEGEND IS BORN~BRAVO STEVIE!!!
Any collection that contains all of the major hits from the great classic Motown sixties period by the legendary Stevie Wonder can only be a 5-star affair!!! Stevie exploded on the scene in 1963 with the #1 mega-hit "Fingertips, Pt. 2" and it was clear that the career of a truly extraordinary musical genius was born...every song in this twelve song set was a solid hit and...

Stevie's early 60's stuff was pretty good. He was given a preview to what was to come. there are some classic songs here, but this set on a whole ain't quite touching His 70's hey Day Genius.but still My cherie amour,I was made to love her&others still are really good.this is a good welcome to the new fan of Stevie wonder's 60's material.

Any collection that contains all of the major hits from the great classic Motown sixties period by the legendary Stevie Wonder can only be a 5-star affair!!! Stevie exploded on the scene in 1963 with the #1 mega-hit "Fingertips, Pt. 2" and it was clear that the career of a truly extraordinary musical genius was born...every song in this twelve song set was a solid hit and as Stevie matured songs like "I Was Made To Love Her", "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" and "My Cherie Amour" became stirring athems that showed what a awesome singer Stevie is! Writing more of his songs as time went by, Stevie was always completely capable of putting his own classic stamp on great songs such as "For Once In My Life" (which was later covered by just about everyone) and a super fine version of "Blowin" In The Wind" which became a hit all over again by Stevie. Smoldering soulful performances by Stevie were among the most memorable of the great musical sixties with two of the finest being "Shoo-BeDoo-Be-Doo-Da-Day" and the classic "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" and it was clear by this time that with time this talent would only deepen and grow to greater artistic heights! In the course of this sampler one can experience a hugely talented child star grow into a great singer/songwriter that defined what greatness is all about in the wonderful world of music...this collection is a great starting point for those who were not there to experience the awesome beginnings of this magnificent and legendary talent! Bravo Stevie Wonder and thank you for all the years of musical wonder...and may there be many more!!!!

Stevie Wonder's songs on this album all come from his earlier years as a recording artist; but don't be fooled: this is especially high quality control music that showcases Stevie's talent and allows you to celebrate his genius every time you play this CD! This is sublime music from one of the greatest entertainers ever.

"Fingertips, Part 2" was one of Stevie's first recordings from 1963; and it made his name a household word immediately after its release--just one listen will tell you why! Stevie enjoys an excellent rapport with his audience and it's a great starting number for the album. "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" is very well done and I love every minute of it! Stevie never lets go of a superfluous note and although he makes it all seem so easy of course we know it really wasn't; his talents carry him through every time. "Blowin' In the Wind" gets the royal treatment from Stevie who covers this tune with panache; and "A Place In the Sun" is a classic I could never tire of hearing! The melody and message of the song charms me with its beauty.

I Was Made to Love Her" has Stevie performing this long song with all his heart and soul; and "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day" has a great sound that always brings a smile to my face! As others have correctly noted, "For Once in My Life" is a fine song that has been covered so many times by countless other artists; this is indeed a major masterpiece by Stevie Wonder. "My Cherie Amour" is another charmer that it easily one of my very favorite Stevie Wonder songs; and I really like "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday" with Stevie singing faultlessly! There's a backup chorus here; and although Stevie Wonder never needed any backup they do sound good anyway.

"Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" is another one of my very favorite Stevie Wonder songs; he delivers this with panache and I love hearing this song anytime! "Heaven Help Us All" is a gem; and the CD closes well with Stevie Wonder performing "If You Really Love Me."

Stevie Wonder fans will attest to the fact that these are very special songs. This is great for any fan on a budget; and people just discovering Stevie's remarkable artistry would do well to start with this album.

While you may want to pick and choose his 70s and later stuff on iTunes. This CD is the perfect early Stevie Wonder collection. Not a bad track here. Give it a listen and you'll know why he was given his stage name.
