We've heard many of our favorite hair bands from the 80's attempt a come-back some 20-30 years later, and while a few really succeed, others fail at trying to recapture the spirit of yesteryear that made them great.

Skeptical at first knowing that this is not - and won't ever be (Robbin we miss you) - the classic five members of Ratt, I was more than pleasantly surprised at the sound of this song. I instantly felt 25 years younger when I heard the opening guitar work capturing the essence of an anthem/hymn that echoed the youth of the 80's. As the lyrics begin, this song is undeniably Ratt. The song has many fragrances of "Dancing Undercover" (think Enough Is Enough) as well as "Detonator", yet has something new to it - a new feeling that says they've become a tad more serious as well as reminiscent.

Stephen has not lost his touch at all, eerily sounding like he recorded part of this back in 1990. You can, however, hear a touch of "age" in his voice at some points in the song to which I argue is NOT a bad thing at all. Unlike the flashy era of the 80's that screamed more of showmanship, Stephen sounds more confident in his talents and this song, bearing an experience that is rarely seen these days.

This song could easily have been included on "Dancing Undercover" or better yet "Detonator" - a sound that picks right up where Top Secret left off.

In closing, this song clearly ranks among the best of the new music by classic rockers in capturing the sound AND the spirit of the great hair bands of the 80's. My hat comes off to Ratt for perfectly capturing what many have been seeking since the destruction of classic heavy metal by grunge.
