Paolo Conte's music is hypnotic. Though I hardly understand a word of Italian, the combination of Conte's voice, rendition, melodies, and arrangement is spellbinding. My 12 year old son calls it 'deep music'. All in all, it is not as easy listening as 'Aquaplano' (one of Conte's albums) but ultimately at least as rewarding. The collection includes 'Sparring Partner' that my son and I played over and over during the first few weeks that we owned the CD. It was literally addictive. 'Via con me', 'Boogie', and the classic 'Max' are equally attractive. Other tracks, such as 'Ho ballato di tutto' require a bit more careful listening before they draw you in, and they will. This collection is a very good introduction to Paolo Conte's works. Highly recommended.

This is the only Paolo Conte CD I've heard. I bought it after hearing
the intoxicating Via con Me track from the German movie "Mostly Martha".
Unfortunately, the Via con Me track on this CD is not identical, and not
as suavely romantic as the movie track. In my view, the large collection of songs are rather hit and miss, but not a bad value for
the price. Highlights include Elisir, Gong-Oh, Alle Prese con una Verde Milonga, and Ballato Di Tutto. Best songs keep to his rhythmic swing
and pulsating piano with catchy key changes. There's also some nice
stand-up bass and guitar on a few tracks. Songs fall flat when too
experimental with voice or tacky musical stylings. Overall, a decent introduction, but I'd be shocked if one of the other compilations wasn't more elegant and swinging.

If you do not know Paolo Conte - buy the CD.
If you know Paolo Conte - no more to say, he is graet.

The only thing i must say about this CD, it is a newly remastered one, with new versions of his classic songs, i have the same CD also a few years older and most of the songs there sound a bit more original, more cooler, more spotlight on his voice and not somuch on the music. On this CD it takes some time to get used to the new digital instruments used in a very dominant manner. But as said it will only confuse you if you have owned the older version before, a great piece of music.
