For legal reasons too complicated to dive into, George Clinton forged two bands, Parliament and Funkadelic, out of what had just been one. In loose terms, Parliament was thought to be the more commercially viable of his insane clown posses, so it's not surprising that most of the tracks on this essential package made it to the radio. And radio never had it so good, since Parliament's idea of Top 40 included timeless dance-floor manifestos like "Flashlight," "Bop Gun," and "Give Up the Funk." George Clinton was as much a pioneer as Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles. His psychodelia in music cannot be limited to just that era. The words to the songs are the mark of genius and the group gathered around him always puts in a superior performance. This is a timeless piece that should be in every funk fan's collection.

pure funk, exellent for waking up early on the way to school, work, or wherever you go in the morning. George Clinton'll have you dancing by the time you'll get there.

In my opinon this is the best compilation offered by Parliament. As a do or die funkateer of the group for close to 30 years this CD doesn't get any better.
