Must have for every PvD fan!,

Just received this cd in the mail yesterday. I own every cd Paul has released and am an avid fan. That being said, looking over the tracklist it doesn't seem that appealing because I already have almost track on it and heard them millions of times. There a few previously unreleased tracks on here that I am excited about - Paul's remix of Timo Maas - Pictures to name one!The packaging on the set is pure class. I love the silver embossed print on the black background. I thought the booklet inside was put together well too. I am proud to own this set. Only on disc 1 right now, but I love it. It flows really well and when the next track comes in, all of these memories associated with it come flooding back. If you're a fan of Paul van Dyk, this set is a must have. It will bring back so many memories, and hopefully inspire you to create new ones. I am anxiously looking forward to the next PvD gig and future productions.

North America got jipped,

This album is an obvious buy. Global, in my opinion, has the best collection of his songs, and the bonus DVD is such a pleasure to watch again and again and again, but if you're a PvD fan, or if you like some of his songs, I would recommend this album because you won't be disappointed. My favorite track across all genres is Forbidden Fruit and it is included here along with other PvD greats such as New York City, We're Alive, A Magical Moment, Nothing But You, and Another Way. There's also a rework of For An Angel which I've heard live at his shows over the years so it's great to own a copy, and Home is just perfect. I'm not a big fan of the remixes he included in the version I purchased, but Still Alive is great - classic PvD stlye, and Gimme More is such a banging track (the best of all the remixes for that song). Plus, there are the trance anthem remixes such as 1998 and Love Stimulation. My only issue is that the version for which this review is written is NOT the version I own. I got the black cover/silver writing, two-disc release which to me is a rip-off. The one remix I was really excited to hear in its entirety was Moving to New York and was disappointed to find it absent from my copy, but here it is, in the import version. I don't think it's fair, but that's usually the way PvD releases his products. A new version every few months, each with something more being offered, and I have always been the one idiot who goes out and buys them all! I currently have three copies of his In Between album for that very same reason. In the end I don't regret it because no EDM artist has the power to hit those notes that move me - the way you want trance to - like Paul van Dyk. So I'll wait and see if this version gets released in North America, if not I'll buy an import, and I anticipate a DVD package akin to Global in the future - I'll be buying that too.

What can I say.... PvD's tunes are simply.... For An Angel! :-)My four favourite tracks from this CD+DVD set are: 1. For An Angel 2009 mix. 2. White Lies feat. Jessica Sutta (formerly of the Pussycat Dolls). 3. Time Of Our Lives feat. Johnny McDaid (of Vega4). 4. Nothing But You (Original - ft. Hemstock & Jennings).

This is a wonderful retrospect of avant garde Pual van Dyk. For people who really enjoy electronica before its commerciallization this is a great addition to your collection.

Hardly best of, CD 2 has a load of new tunes (that are not very good).Cd 1 is alright, but I can assure you, if you're a fan of trance you have all these tunes already. Come on PVD, you can do better than put out this tosh!

This Paul Van Dyke cd is penultimately mixed. CD 1 track 11 definitely took me to the other side. As an autism specialist I find this type of music extremely helpful with my students. It addresses the bi-naural beats of the brain ATB does this also. I really feel that this cd is mastery and a language that certain "ones" can relate to. Hope to hear from others regarding the other side....

Why do you always mix your cds? A lot of us would prefer not a mix. I brought this cd only to return it for my money back. I will never buy another Paul van Dyk cd for this reason. Instead I'll get music from beatport where it is not premixed!
