My dog Katie, a 3-year old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix, and I hiked through over 110 parks in southeast Pennsylvania, south Jersey and Delaware to find the best Tail-Friendly trails in the tri-state area. Where are the best parks for canine doggie-dipping? Where are the best parks to hike more than an hour? Are the trail surfaces paw-friendly? Where are the best parks to walk the dog and push the baby stroller? And then I ranked all the parks from 1 to 55 to help guide dog-walkers around the Delaware Valley. While walking the dog I also offer generous helpings of local history, botany, geology and architecture. And there is a separate listing of all the area parks that hang out the dreaded "No Dogs" sign. The book features 26 whimsical original drawings by Andrew Chesworth, a Delaware ex-patriate now working out of Aurora, Illinois.
