DJ Anthony Pappa (Global Underground NUbreed) magically mixes classic trance hits from well known artists like the Art of Trance and Union Jack, and also lesser known but my favorite Poltergeist. Please listen to Poltergeist's Vicious Circles. I think this song came out in 93 but still sounds amazingingly progressive and not-outdated. There's a new 12" release of this song mixed by Mogwai which came out recently (Nov 2000). Anyway, this Best of album comes with two discs compiled with great classic trance tunes one could only get from 12" vinyls. Pappa picked the right mixes/versions to keep the album going strong, with smooth transition. He didn't just beat matched, he picked the right songs in the right order for a purpose--keeping you in a state of trance/good relaxation mode in the end, wanting to listen to more of this. I have to give this a 5 star because I think it should be every trance music fans' collector item. Get this and you'll be happy.

This was the first time I had ever heard trance music. I fell in love with this collection and now I am hooked. I would recommend this cd to any one who loves trance music or is their first time and would like to hear what it is like. It is a collection of songs from various artists like Trance and LSG, but it gives you a clue what those artists will sound like. Hints: Into aerobics? Makes a great work-out cd. Also, play this collection wearing headphones while everything around you is quite. This collection will give you an out of this world experience!!!!!

if you're a fan of any kind of trance i highly recommend this album. i thought platipus' "ultimate dream collection" was untoppable but this one does it. every song is good and it's mixed very well, so the emotional attachment never really stops nor does the urge to dance (or at least bob your head). it has many classic songs (in my opinion) highlighted by "red herring," "two full moons...," and "kaleidoscope." any trance fan with common sense should buy this album. enjoy.

if you like the global underground or sasha-digweed type stuff, this album is a godsend. amazing remixes of some familiar stuff but it oozes together so smoothly its hard to focus on anything but the waves of ecstatic trance running through your body. absolutely insane. a must buy for progressive trance fans.

This is tricky to review, for several reasons. Undoubtedly almost all of these tracks are classics and/or standouts. Unfortunately, you have a chunk of these already if you are a trance fan- these songs are all over various compilations. While it's not the label's fault their stuff is good, it'll be up to you to decide if you want to hear a portion of your trance collection remixed and in a different track order.

But if you don't have much trance, well there's definitely quality here. Without covering all 24 songs and artists, I'll just say you won't be disappointed by the mixing or the songs. But beware that some of these tunes are older and there is a wider variety of styles than you'd get on a normal comp because of it.

I'm giving it a 4, but beware that if you have a trance collection you'll have portions of this and if you are new to the genre this isn't the ideal CD to start with.

the best of platipus is exceptional. Once you start listening you wont be able to stop(until you need to change disc.) The mix is great,Anthony Pappa is brilliant. The tracks blend like magic, which sucks you into a zone and wont let you go because it sounds so good, and when cranked takes control of your body for the full length of each disc. The best of platipus has so many memorable tracks from platipus' albums over the years, like "Art of Trance":Madagascar and Easter Island /"AMbassador":The Fade/and/"Union Jack":Cockroach. Definately a cd worth every penny. A must buy for those new to trance.
