When a band releases a "best of" compilation, most of the time it means a culmination of its long career together, unless they end up being around for 10 more years or so (i.e. Petra). When a band releases a "best of" compilation after only two albums, however, one has to wonder. It's a shame, really; Plumb is (or was) one of the best light-alternative Christian bands out there, and for them to call it quits or split up at this point would have to be insane. Now, if they received a different calling, I would understand, but otherwise I have to ask myself, "Why now? Why so soon?" Hopefully this isn't the case. There're a lot of great songs on this CD; most addicting being "God-shaped Hole" and the danceable "Crazy". A few songs appear on the CD more than once, though; the remix of "Who Am I" and the regular version aren't even five tracks apart. Just one of the drawbacks of releasing a "best of" so early. All-Star United did the same thing, putting out "Smash Hits" in 1999 after only two albums. I really hope Plumb isn't done yet; I think they have a lot more to contribute as a band with a sound as great as theirs. If you're thinking of getting this CD, you might as well spend a few extra bucks and get their two albums instead so you can get the full Plumb experience.

Blown Away....,

The Best Of Plumb is a great CD. It is great for people just stumbling across Plumb because it's a compilation of her first 2 CD's. Tiffani Arbuckle is definatly a great song writer, singer, and performer. With Tiffani writing such music as Mandy Moore's "I Want to be With You" truly shows her talent in writing. I guarentee you that one day, Plumb will be big. And I can't wait to hear more of them.

"Best of Plumb" is a great album for new Plumb fans. You get a taste of her two previously released albums. People who have just discovered Plumb should check out this album to get an idea on her music. She does a very nice job of choosing the best of both. If you like this CD, go and get her other two because there are some favorites of hers that she did not include on this album! Crazy, Late Great Planet Earth, Sobering, Who am I, Here with me, and Concrete are just some of the great up-beat/alternative songs that keep you moving. Phobic, Damaged, Pennyless, and stranded are her best soft and gentle songs that are just beautiful. This is a terrific CD. For veteran Plumb fans, it's a great CD to pop in and just let it play without fishing for your favorites ;) New and old fans will also love the remixes. They're great! They are mixed nicely with new tempos and instruments to give them a differet flavor. Great CD. Go Plumb!!!!!

Plumb really appealed to me because their music is a mixture of rock and christian. Tiffany Arbuckle's voice is beautiful and she sings with such grace and emotion. It is difficult to choose a favorite track on here because all of them are excellent. I'd highly recommend this album. It's a great variety of cool music! You have to love Stranded, Concrete, and Damaged.

All of her songs are great and alot of them are potrayed in my life-literally.And I am proud to say that I have all three of the cd's. Also I am so glad a new Plumb cd will be out in stores everywhere in June with a new record label.Thank you Jesus that I have discovered Plumb!!! A few of my favorites are Phobic, Damaged, Endure, and Here with Me,and Cure. Plumb is awesome because she sings about subjects that lots of people would'nt things that need to be out in the open. I could listen to those cds all day on repeat and do! OOhh I almost forgot willow tree is also my favorite too!

Yes, this CD is redundant, but great!,

As numerous reviewers have noted, this CD was released after only two (two amazing) albums by Plumb. The official word as I understand it is this: The contract Plumb had with the label stipulated 3 albums. This release satisfied that requirement. While I'd recommend that you obtain the original two discs, you certainly wouldn't be doing badly to get this one if you don't plan to do that. This is one of my favorite groups. If you even listen to the clips you should see why that's true. The albums released after this have been great in their own right, just a little mellower.

Again, I am very impressed with the work of Plumb. I wish there were a few other songs on here, like drugstore Jesus. But nonetheless, the album again demonstrates Tiffany Arbuckle's God given talents, and a very talented group of musicians. All songs are great! Can't wait for a new album by this excellent band.

Plumb was by far my favorite Christian band. This CD is completly awesome, it was the first Plumb CD that I ever bought, and since I have bought all the others as well! "Damaged" is a truely awesome song about a gurl who was... abused...it is very sad...but it got me hooked! The entire CD is a must hear! :)

Don't expect this music to be peppy and bubbly because it isn't. That being said, i still liked it. I especially like "Stranded" and "Here With Me."

I think I have an advantage by starting with this CD. Long time fans seem taken back by this, stating whether Plumb should've opted for a 'Greatest Hits' collection so early in their career. The only reason I was introduced to Plumb was because of their song on the Brokedown Palace soundtrack, Damaged. So with me starting with this CD I get the opportunity to see the highlights these young guns have had in their short time. One thing that did kind of make me wary of buying this, and the only thing at that, was the fact that they sing Christian music. I don't like to be preached to when I listen to music, I like to be entertained. And, sadly, Christian music has a tendency to preach. Plumb, however, doesn't fit into that mold. If you wouldn't read any reviews for this CD, you wouldn't ever gather that they were a religious band.
We start this disc with the insanely catchy Here With Me. This song really baffles me. I can't understand why mainstream radio didn't completely grasp this. To the casual ear it's merely a cry to an old flame. This kind of song is popular right now. Radio's loss I suppose. Sobering is another track that sounds fit for normal radio play. Very catchy and an extremely upbeat vibe to it. Late Great Planet Earth surprised me. Knowing this is the band that made Damaged, I didn't expect to ever hear anything like this from them. This is an outright rock track with catchy guitar parts and a wonderful chorus that you'll never forget. Who Am I? is the next track. A worthy follow-up to such a juggernaut track. Great lyrics mixed with a beat that follows the vocals so nicely is always a winning combination. Now we move to the song that made me want this CD, Damaged. I think this is the dreamiest track this disc offers. The vocals are perfectly distorted to sound like Tiffany is singing into a tunnel. The music is so complex that you'll be listening to it over and over trying to take in everything it has to offer. God-Shaped Hole is the only outright Christian song on here. But even this song is presented in such a way that it doesn't bring down the listen. It's a very nice track and is worth being included. Pennyless is the last real track in this collection. It's a nice song that shows the listener just how amazing Tiffany's voice is. The only drawback is that it's so short, weighing in at only 3:01. The remixes close out the CD. They're all equally good, I'm just not one for remixes. I find they take away from the experience. These are some of the better ones I've heard though. So, a nice inclusion. Overall, a few of my favorite songs on here are Here With Me, Late Great Planet Earth, Who Am I?, Damaged, God-Shaped Hole and Pennyless. I almost didn't buy this CD simply because of the way Plumb are categorized. Although I still don't like the genre, this is one band I will follow from here on. |
