5.0 out of 5 stars Modern-Day Proverbs
This title is the second I have read by Andy Stanley. My appreciation for the author and his writing style is growing. He is entertaining, edifying and enlightening. In this volume, Stanley poses the best question ever. He first explains the question, and then applies it to time, money and morality. He closes with an emphasis on the importance of the best question...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but stops short.
I've read the book and recently led a small group through the DVD and study guide. Overall, it was good. I am a fan of Stanley and will continue to check out his resources. However this one fell short for me and for our group somewhat. The Best Question Ever is a great question, but to whom is the question asked? I think it's a question we need to bring before the...

This book is a good, quick read that will benefit any Christian. I recommend it highly. After reading it, the chances are much better that the reader will ask himself the best question ever on a regular basis!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book About Making Decisions, July 4, 2005
This review is from: The Best Question Ever (Hardcover)
"The Best Question Ever" is a question we are to ask ourselves each time we make a decision. The question (which I will leave out) is a fairly simple question which really isn't the best part about this book.

This book's strengths come from the applications that the book gets into later. Specifically, how to apply this question in areas of your life such as finances, time, purity, and family.

I was impressed with Andy Stanley's insights. His writing is very clear, concise, and easy to read. His examples that he includes are excellent and my only objection would be that he didn't include more.

Overall, this book is a good read. Definitely worth reading. 5 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book!, March 9, 2006
This review is from: The Best Question Ever (Hardcover)
Andy has hit the nail right on the head with this one! His insights are right on target - this book really does have the potential to change your life. I would recommend this book to anyone who truly desires to grow in their relationship with Christ, because it wasn't written to tell you what to do and what not to do. It was written to keep us connected daily with our Head (Christ) and think of Him as we make our day to day decisions. We are here to grow closer to Christ and to help others pursue Him as well - the decisions we make affect both. Great Book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable practical wisdom, June 14, 2005
This review is from: The Best Question Ever (Hardcover)
As a practicing clinical psychologist, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Timeless truths and sound Biblical wisdom are always a sure thing. Andy has a gift of taking the truths of scripture and making them refreshingly practical to our lives. You will use the principles in this book every day - if you are wise!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever--Wow!, April 8, 2005

My pastor is starting a teaching series based on this book, so I decided to purchase it(www.miracletemple.net). Ok, I read the book in one hour and forwarded an excerpt to a church member and she loved it immediately.

This book will truly change the way you think in every aspect of your life. You can "foolproof" your life if you ask this question.

I won't tell you what that question is, because you need to read it in the book and in context.

Don't think of any more questions....just buy this book, it is worth it.

For insight on this question Read Ephesians 5:15-17.

I've read the book and recently led a small group through the DVD and study guide. Overall, it was good. I am a fan of Stanley and will continue to check out his resources. However this one fell short for me and for our group somewhat. The Best Question Ever is a great question, but to whom is the question asked? I think it's a question we need to bring before the Lord, seeking His answer. He lands on this point somewhat by the end, but it just doesn't come across strong enough for me. Also, He's very good at identifying an issue that surfaces when it comes to this question, "What is the wise thing for me to do?" Often, the problem is not that we don't know what the wise thing is. It's that our desires don't line up with what's wise. He's good at identifying it, but not as helpful in addressing it as I'd hoped. Still worth checking out.

I often struggle with decisions. What is the right thing to do?

What is God's will in this instance? If it is right for someone else, does that make it right for me? Asking the best question ever puts things in perspective for me and what my choice should be in every area of my life - relationships, financially, etc. It has also helped my prayer life. I usually donate my books to the library, but I am going to keep this book to read over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good Book, September 27, 2005

This book is an overall great book. It really puts into perspective certain aspects of life and how we need to approach certain areas. Andy Stanley has an extraordinary talent for writing. This book is very easy to read and understand, but still offers great insight into certain areas. It talks about decisions that we all will face and how we can make the right choice by using The Best Question Ever. It can help to prevent regrets and achieve goals. It really is a great read that you won't want to put down until you are done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved the book, but kindle version horrible, February 22, 2011

I loved the book, as I do all of Andy Stanley's books; I am a huge fan. However, the Kindle version was horrible--there were too many typos to even list. There were whole words missing and some parts were so bad that I couldn't make sense of the sentence. If you purchase this book--and please do--buy the paper version. Seriously, I deserve a refund as it was almost unreadable in places.

We are always making decisions in our lives. We decide daily what do to and how to do it. Andy Stanley teaches us to shift our decision paradigm from "What is the RIGHT thing to do?" to "What is the WISE thing to do?"

Our decisions are usually governed by "do the right thing" and "don't do the wrong thing". We often make choices that have nothing necessarily wrong with them, but the future ramifications show that the choice was not very wise.

Stanley presents an approach to decision-making that will help us stay on the right path. My only fault with the book is that it forces the reader to recall prior failed decisions, which we all have, and feel guilty about them. Guilt can be a good motivator, but a chapter on repentance and moving forward from bad decisions would have been helpful.
