This review is from: Best of RESFEST Shorts, Vol. 3 (DVD)
The Resfest series continues to reward those looking for more substantive short films. "Birdbeat" is a sharp bit of Photoshop-chopped jazz. "The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal" is both wry and sly -- a bit of commentary about the repression of expression becoming a form of expression itself. While not earth-shaking, "The Littlest Robo" nicely blends the aesthetic of 2D animation with the depth of CGI. Once again, Resfest has offered us a glimpse into the future or digital cinema. I look forward to more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Innovative and entertaining, October 11, 2006

(REAL NAME)
I am not a digital artist myself, but I enjoy art and filmmaking immensely, which is why I checked this collection out. I was not disappointed. Naturally, I appreciated some shorts more than others, but I felt that overall it was very entertaining. "Birdbeat" was irreverant and fun, and I really enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek message behind "The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal". Another one that left an impression on me was "Starched" - it was visually beautiful in a minimalist way, and also captured a sort of repressed-sexual-tension. I have recommended this DVD to my photographer/graphic artist/filmmaker friends, or anyone else who enjoys those fields.
