Perhaps over 90% of this book is identical to a six year old book called 'Raichlen on Ribs, Ribs, Outrageous Ribs.' This is not an exaggeration: the same recipes appear on the same pages, with the same accompanying text and photos.

If you already have that book you may want to consider whether you need this "update." I'm not sure if this info was widely communicated but I was not aware that this was essentially the same volume prior to my purchase. Perhaps a better approach for the publisher would be to market this as a revised, updated version of 'Ribs, Ribs, Ribs' rather release it under a new title.

It is a good book but I'm somewhat disappointed with my purchase. I always look forward to a new Raichlen BBQ book.

Unfortunatly, I have to agree with the other reviewer. This is the same book Raichlen published in 2006 titled "Ribs, Ribs, Ribs". Even the B&W photos of people eating ribs are the same! I was hoping for something new from Raichlen, but it's not in this book. Don't get me wrong, if you have neither book in your kitchen, buy one of them at least. The original recipes for rubs are extensive.

I wish there were more recipes for slow smoking ribs, rather than the indirect/direct cooking at 350 degree methods.

I've always enjoyed great ribs, which are hard to find, at least with all the variations in any one place. So I wanted to learn more about doing them myself.

This rib focused book explains the details, ins and outs of rib specific cooking. This has many different inspiring recipes, covering the many types of ribs and types of rib cooking. It explores all the various regional, international style ribs,... pretty much any type rib there is. Personally I'm not sure I'll ever be trying buffalo or fish ribs but they are in there for those that to go there.

There are even sections on things to complete the meal, which is great.... An Inspirational A+.

...and he's got a good writing style.

This book has some of my favorite ribs recipes I've Ever smoked. Good explanations of use of spices.Alot of different sides to have with your meal too..all around good cook book ,a must have on your shelf...

This book is by PBS Public tv BBQ chef Steven Raichel who did 2 shows on PBS BBQ University and Primal Grill and I will tell you that I have tried Several of his Recipes from is other books and Website and each and ever Recipe that I have tryed worked out just fine and where so YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me parents and me have tryed one of his ribs Recipes and they where some of the meatest and tastiest ribs I ever eat in my life So I highly say that you for sure should get this BBQ Rib book

As an avid outdoor cook, I have numerous BBQ Cookbooks. This one is a little above average, but, like most cookbooks, it's value will be judged according to the individual taste of each person. I have never found a cookbook that I liked all the recipes. However, this one has quite few that are unique and to my liking.
