How does Amazon justify asking so much for so little?,
By Famous Mortimor (Carbondale, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Best of Rocko's Modern Life Volume 3 (2 Disc set) (DVD)
Rocko's Modern Life is one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood, it's strange, crude, clever, and absolutely hilarious.....and I would love to own the show on DVD, but I refuse to pay so much for sets that contain such little content. Right now we are in a golden age of TV on DVD, where you can buy full season sets of just about any show at very reasonable prices, so for Amazon charge $25 each for what amounts to only six full episodes worth of content is laughable. Also, what really perplexes me is that they are only doing this with the Rocko's Modern Life sets, not any of the other Nickelodeon "Burn on Demand" sets that they've released over the last year.
Let's use Hey Arnold! as an example: Amazon is currently charging $35.99 for the complete first season of the show, and what does that get you? Well, that gets you all 20 episodes of the show's first season on four discs. That's right, you get more than 3x the amount of episodes for only ten dollars more than a single Rocko's Modern Life set. This proves that Amazon is willing to take a more reasonable approach to the pricing of these sets (similar examples could be used for Doug and Rugrats) yet they choose to adhere to charging such a ridiculous price for Rocko's Modern Life. Not only does this give the fans less content for more money, it also affects how long it takes for these sets to become available. Over the course of just over a year Amazon was able to release all 5 seasons (100 episodes) of Hey Arnold!, and in the same time frame only a season and a half of Rocko's Modern Life (roughly 18 episodes) has been released, and at the current pace of about 6 episodes per set it will take another 5 sets to finally get the entire series on DVD. Until Amazon either lowers to prices of the current sets (I think $9.99 is more than fair for 6 lousy episodes of a TV show, even though iTunes is currently selling the same set for $5.99) or re-releases these with more episodes per set at a reasonable price, I will refuse to purchase these DVDs.

Release season sets please ASAP!!,
This review is from: The Best of Rocko's Modern Life Volume 3 (2 Disc set) (DVD)
I totally agree with most of the reviews here. It's great to have Rocko's Modern Life on dvd but these " best of " releases are a bit much. These are only burn on demand episodes, no special features, no re-mastering, and the price for one best of dvd is like the price for a season one or season one part one dvd set that we are more use to seeing. If they are already on volume 3 of these " best of " dvds it does seem logical they are selling and why not reward people who want whole season sets to finally put that out. You can leave these " best of " for people who only want to buy a few episodes. Just take a look at " The Real Ghostbusters " cartoon, there was about 3 volumes as well and finally Time Life released the whole damn series and I applauded them for that. Some times these studios leave your head shaking, look what happened to Pete and Pete, all you have to do is visit that product page and see fans clamoring for another release. Look what happened to Amazing Stories, no second series, Ducktales, Gummibears, Rescue Rangers I could go on and on. Just how much sales justify releasing more series or season series for these studios? Bring on Rocko Season sets, you the fans demand it!!, flood consumer division email boxes and mailboxes with your requests! Let your views be known. **Update. Well since this review there has been a proper Season 1 dvd set put out by Shout Factory and it's under 20 dollars, also announced Season 2 coming early 2012! Those are the sets to get, stay far, far away from this MOD SET!!!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Best of Rocko's Modern Life Volume 3 (2 Disc set) (DVD)
I watched these Rocko episodes when my Granddaughter, Danielle, was little. She is now in her third year of college! Now, I am getting the retro Rocko's to share with my Grandson, Hunter (age 7), who loves them. The main reason I purchased the DVD's was in the hopes of getting a particular episode featuring, "Philbert," the turtle. Rocko, Heffer, and Philbert were finishing their meal in a Chinese restaurant. They were opening their fortune cookies, when Philbert's fortune read the worst news possible (i.e., bad luck will follow you the rest of your days, type of fortune! Hilarious!! Not found on the first two DVD's. If I knew that Rocko's Volume 3 DVD had this episode on it, I would gladly purchase it as well.
