5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Rolf, July 14, 2005

This album is for British expats who grew up listening to Rolf Harris. My only problem is the leaving out of "Two Little Boys", otherwise terrific. I bought this thinking my daughter (currently eight months) would enjoy it one day, but I find myself putting it on in the car on the way to work and singing along to "The Court of King Caractacus" or "Sun Arise". I love the sound of wobble boards in the morning...

4.0 out of 5 stars It is the Best of Rolf Harris, August 6, 2005

You might be familiar with the songs of Rolf Harris or maybe many years ago you heard the song "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" and that brought you to this CD. Either way you will most certainly enjoy this collection of his songs. I didn't realize how talented he is and how much joy his songs bring until I added this CD to my collection. It brought back a lot of memories. Enjoy.

What wonderful memories this great digitally remastered CD brought back to me. My old LP's/ "records" and awesome & funny talent of Rolf Harris' music. What do kids get when they're 3-5 nowdays that's anything like this?

A Kid's Review

While I could not find the CD equivalent to the old LP I had, this had several of the songs I liked (when I was a teenager, oh, 35 years ago!!) The prices on the CDs shows he is still a product in demand.

I bought this for one song - Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport - believe it or not it's got sentimental value to me, an "our song" kind of thing. Seems you can't buy the song alone... Good marketing you aussie bahstids, lol!

Mu oldest son, age 10, doesn't enjoy listening to "Children's" music (ie, "B-I-N-G-0," "Jimmy Cracked Corn," "Eensy - Weensy Spider," etc.) anymore. But, I REALLY don't want him to listen to the rock music that teenagers listen to. Rolf Harris is PERFECT. The songs on this CD are REALLY funny. My son REALLY enjoys listening to this. I'm going to search for other CD's for him, but I don't know if there are any out there!

When I was young and foolish (now I'm old and foolish), some nut from far away Australia named Rolf Harris released a song called "Tie Me Kangeroo Down Sport." The thing made little or no sense, so naturally, it went platinum. Only last week, I learned "Sun Arise," a song I loved when I was eleven or twelve, was also by Harris (handy thing the internet -- besides, it gives you something to do with the computer besides play solitare).

This is a very good collection and is filled with songs you'll be embarrassed to be caught listening to. Well, almost as embarrassed as being caught listening to "Show Them to Me" from the "Beer for My Horses" soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tie me down, sport!, July 7, 2008
This review is from: Best of (Audio CD)
Wow, I came across this totally by accident while looking for books on Rolfing.

One of the first albums my Brit Ex-pat mum bought me when I was a child was a Rolf Harris album. (The other two were "Meet the Beatles" and a Scots Guards bagpipe album. Probably explains a thing or two...)

Many of the songs on this CD were on that album. As I recall, the original vinyl disappeared one day after about the tenth time my siblings and I sang "So we tanned 'is 'ide when he died, Clyde.."

Then there's the old standard, "Waltzing Matilda." I've seen Aussies tear up over that one.

Really, any CD with a song called "Nick Teen and Al K. Hall" has got to be a winner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aussie party music, August 19, 2006

I had an Aussie yard party and used the CD for a sing-a-long. It worked out great and we had a lot of fun singing with Rolf.
I didn't realize that he had made so many fun songs famous!
