5.0 out of 5 stars Dance Dance Dance then Dance some more
This cd is a must for any belly dancer who leans towards the more ethnic style of dance. I especially love the Saaidi cd. It is my music of choice at the moment

3.0 out of 5 stars Far too traditional
I bought this cd hoping that I could pick up some tracks for my belly dance performances. I was a bit disappointed because both CDs are quite heavy to listen to and not very inviting for dancing. Perhaps someone more expert than me on authentic middle eastern music would appreciate this style. I personally prefer Ramzy's El Amar, which is more pleasing to the ear.

this cd is another fine production by hossam ramzy, my favorite musician. as usual, ramzy has given us dancers quality material to practice, perform, or listen to. though i find the first cd's horns a bit too piercing to really listen to, this is just my taste and the music is still great. the second cd (without the horns) is wonderful and i just wish there were more songs on it. i perform to most of the songs on it and recommend this cd to a someone looking for a fun, authentic-sounding dance routine.

This 2 CD set is part of my music collection for teaching and listening. It is a must for all teachers and students of Egyptian Raqs Sharqi. CD 1 is mostly percussion featuring Egyptian rhythms Saaidi and Maqsoum. Cd 2 is mostly compositional tunes with these base rhythms. I use these CDs in the warm-up and middle portion of the class to introduce my students to these rhythms.

Mr. Ramzy is an accomplished Middle Eastern percussionist, musician, teacher and scholar. He is a master in his craft and makes this evident in the level of workmanship and skill in producing these CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ethnic music!, July 31, 2002
This review is from: Best of Saaidi & Baladi (Audio CD)
These CDs were being used in my belly dance class, so I decided to pick them up for myself. They're wonderful! As a previous reviewer mentioned, it's awfully hard to sit still while they're on, and the rhythms are so clear and precise. I'm using the CDs primarily to improve my percussive hip moves and my finger cymbal work, and they're making a huge difference!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice, March 4, 2004

The Baladi CD is wonderful! The music invites you to dance. I believe all the bellydancers would love it!
The Saaidi cd is good to stick dance. It's very traditional egypcian folklore. It reminds a group of bedouin women in the middle of the desert dancing by the fire...
