4.0 out of 5 stars A great way to share my childhood with my kids!
"The Best of" CD was great fun for me to play for my kids the first time. It was a chance to share a part of my childhood with them. The songs are as adictive now as they were then (and as "the Mom", I don't find myself growing quickly tired of the repetitive playing of the CD). I am thrilled that my five-year-old can recite the Preamble to the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Is the best really the 'Best of the Best'?
I did think that for the most part there is a good selection on this CD. Most os the ones you remember from your childhood like 'I'm just a Bill' and 'Interplanet Janet' are here. But there were a few I loved that didn't make it such as 'Ready or not, here I come' (multiplying by 5s) and the unforgetable love classic 'The Tale of Mr. Morton'. The last 4 tracks are only...

But there were a few I loved that didn't make it such as 'Ready or not, here I come' (multiplying by 5s) and the unforgetable love classic 'The Tale of Mr. Morton'. The last 4 tracks are only put on here so you would have to buy this CD plus the 'complete' recording CD to actually get the complete recordings. Those 4 songs are not on the 4 CD set. In my opinion, those 4 are actually pretty low on the scale of good School House Rock songs. As for the quality, it is better then the actual music videos.A little effort was put in to make them sound really good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing Too Many Good Songs, December 27, 2005
This review is from: Best of Schoolhouse Rock (Audio CD)
It's a good album and for those of us that grew up eagerly awaiting Saturday morning cartoons; it's a great disc. It had been a while since I had heard many of these songs and have been amazed at how well crafted the songs are to the point I've found myself singing them at work.

I originally bought the disc to share with my 2 year old son and I'm happy to say he loves them, especially "Conjunction Junction" and "Interjection."

My only complaint is that the compiler that formulated the list of songs opted to include songs spanning the years of School House Rock instead of including the Best songs. There are many songs that are missing that are simply better and more likable than songs like "Tyrannosaurus Debt."

What happen to Rufus Xavier Sasparilla?

I am thrilled that my five-year-old can recite the Preamble to the Constitution. It is a fabulous CD (although I miss Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get your Adverbs Here) - my all-time favorites were not ALL included in "The Best of", but it does contain most of them. I hope my kids play it for my grandchildren someday!

5.0 out of 5 stars No more moaning and groaning about learning "boring stuff.", January 18, 2007
This review is from: Best of Schoolhouse Rock (Audio CD)
I used this for my 13yr old step-daughter, 12ry old, & 9yr old while studying the constitution. Not only have they memorized the preamble, they can't stop singing it. I find myself humming all the songs. Even my two year old is singing the songs. All the kids can effectively summerize the birth of this country, the functions of the constitution, a Bill and more. My 9yr old was having a hard time remembering her multiplication facts, but after listening to the songs; "Three is a Magic Number, My Hero Zero, Figure Eight..." just a couple of times it just clicked and she's flying through division now. My 13yr old is stuggling with language arts, but since listening to the songs; Unpack Your Adjectives, (my favorite) Conjunction Junction, & Interjections things clicked for her. Language Arts is no longer an overwhelming subject. All my kids found The Best of Schoolhouse Rocks to be a treat. They ask me to put it on while they're working, promising they'll work quietly and diligently. This is a win-win situation. They love it, I love it, even the 2yr old loves it. I also bought the DVD and even my "too cool" 13yr old watches it. This is not just for little kids. My 13, 12, & 9yr olds loaded it on their Ipod's!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, March 29, 2003

As A teacher, I believe that each and every student in my 3rd grade class benifits from this video. I have seen child after child humming the tunes to, "unpack your adjectives" and "I'm just a Bill". Even As A teacher I learn from these videos. I love the music mixed with the wit and humor of it. I think that we could all learn a little by watching "SchoolHouse Rock!"

I really enjoyed listening to the CD. It brought back so many memories of Saturday morning cartoons as a child. Surprisingly, I remembered most of the lyrics and in my mind's eye, I saw the cartoons that went with the songs. What a wonderful experience! As a new mother, I can't wait until she is old enough to sing along.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining for young and old alike!, March 3, 1999

I remember watching schoolhouse rock when I was a child and I use to sing those songs constantly. I bought this CD for my daughter who, although is only 5 years old now, is singing the songs too. She will learn the meaning of each song as she gets older. I plan on buying every one of the videos as well.

My five-year-old & 21-month-old kids LOVE Schoolhouse Rock. We listen to it in the car every day. There's a few songs on there that I don't remember (and funny how those aren't my kids favs) but most of them I do and it's so fun to hear them & sing-a-long to them with my kids. I totally recommend this CD to everyone - parents who remember watching these as a kid, grandparents who enjoy singing along to great songs with their grandkids and even kids who want to learn a little about math, science and everything else!

5.0 out of 5 stars What can you say but great?, December 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Best of Schoolhouse Rock (Audio CD)
I type this as I hear the song "We the People" going through my mind. I like it as much now as I did when it was on when I was growing up. Needless to say it helped me and half my friends pass the constitution test! I ordered this for my four year old daughter. Not only is it a great learning tool she likes the catchy tunes. Of course, she does tend to groan when I want to keep listening to "We the People" over and over. She almost has all the words down. What more can you ask for? This is a classic...learning while having fun. And how can you complain about liking the same music your child wants to hear over and over in the car? Definitely a great buy.

Very pleased -- Wish it had a few more songs like "lolly, lolly ,lolly". But over all it is GREAT.
