5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Introduction to the Music of Robert Schumann
Fine music here! I especially love Schumann's fantastic Piano Quintet in E flat. The Scherzo-Trio is included here on this CD. Awesome! This is absolutely my favorite chamber music by ANY composer. I enthusiastically recommend the entire Piano Quintet on Naxos Schumann, Brahms: Piano Quintets (coupled with Brahm's very good Quintet... see the great reviews from other...

It's a good choice to check out what Schumann is known for, but the interpretation often didn't inspire me much. For example, almost any piano player can play the "Träumerei", and this interpretation is just about like that. Not very inspiring. Sound quality is O.K. though.

Fine music here! I especially love Schumann's fantastic Piano Quintet in E flat. The Scherzo-Trio is included here on this CD. Awesome! This is absolutely my favorite chamber music by ANY composer. I enthusiastically recommend the entire Piano Quintet on Naxos Schumann, Brahms: Piano Quintets (coupled with Brahm's very good Quintet... see the great reviews from other Amazon customers). Also on this CD is the Manfred Overture, selections from two of his Symphonies, solo piano music, and of course part of his famous Piano Concerto in A minor. For those who don't know, the Naxos CD label has been widely recognized in classical circles as simply the best BUDGET label around. However, don't be fooled by the nice low price. These are all modern, quality digital recordings, many of which are critically-acclaimed. Take it from me, the owner of 500-plus classical CDs. Of these, 100-plus are from this wonderful label: Naxos. You will enjoy this CD, not just the modest cost!
