4.0 out of 5 stars Not Free SF Reader, May 28, 2008
Robert Silverberg stories, being so many of them just seem to trickle in, and soon you probably have 100 of them. There's another here, and four in the recommended reading list that is only a page long.

Carr points out that this year there were more original short stories and novelettes published in books, compared to magazines, meaning his reading workload had doubled, presumably compared to some years back.

If a ghost of Terry is around somewhere still, perhaps he will spare a thought for Hartwell, Horton, and Strahan and the considerably larger number again of junk they have to inflict on their eyeballs to produce the modern versions of this book, reading not juts the SF, but the present in larger numbers fantasy and whatever.

Carr said the book stories were starting to improve, too, so presumably more good stories to choose from. Volume 3 is certainly significantly better than volume 2, with a 3.73 compared to a 3.53. Interestingly, all the not so good is at the start. The two standouts are in the middle, and a strong end exists.
