These are NOT the original remastered recordings. "The Best of the Seekers Today" is a 1991 release with 13 cuts containing newly recorded versions of some of their more popular songs plus several new ones. The original male members of the group are joined by the very lyrical vocals of Julie Anthony who replaces Judith Durham. These new recordings might conform more to the ears of todays generation of record buyers with their de-emphasized midrange and lush, streamlined instrumentation. Great road music and altogether a nice addition to any Seekers collection.

I prefer the original group,

The Seekers, an Australian group, became world-famous forty years ago with their renditions of three Tom Springfield songs: I'll Never Find Another You, A World of our Own, and Georgy Girl.
Somehow, in the first of these songs, I couldn't help but imagine a despondent typesetter, having had to set the text of some work about the unusual uhuru of ululating vacuums near Uluru, convinced that she'll "never find another" u. Well, the Seekers are here once again, with a recording from 1991. And with Judith Durham replaced by Julie Anthony. While both of these ladies are fine singers, I have to admit that I prefer the original Durham recordings. Anyway, this album has some pleasant songs, and I recommend it.

Disappointing with no Judith Durham,

Judith Durham's crystal clear tones and soaring powerful voice are sadly lacking in this compilation of Seekers songs. This is not a criticism of the band per se, however, it must be recognised that it was Judith's voice as well as 'The Boys' skills that took them to the top of the international charts worldwide. Sorry, but you cannot beat the original combination, no matter how you try.

Julie Anthony is superb!,

This is not meant as a slight to Judith Durham at all. She is well-deserving of the accolades that are hers. But I would urge the prospective listener to judge this work for its own sake. Julie Anthony's vocals are absolutely stunning, and this format showcases them well. It's a shame that her interpretation of these songs is going to be immediately subject to a comparison that is really apples to oranges. I for one am glad that history allowed these recordings to come about. They are very good in their own right, which is how they should be considered.

The Song I'll never find another you has words that makes you stop and think. No music today contains words to make you stop and think.

Best of Today Seekers,

This sound is just great! The Seekers with Judith Durham have always made terrific music together. But this CD has Judith replaced with Julie Anthony on lead vocals and the results are just wonderful. Her voice gives the Seeker hits just a touch of a sound that is different and very pleasing than the Standard Seeker music. If you like Seeker songs with a bit of a different touch then I highly recommand this cd.

I think The Seekers are a classic. Both myself and my husband love their music. Another reason I love this CD is that one of the songs, "A World Of Our Own," is OUR song. How about that!

This is really a nice CD. I liked all of the songs.
But Judith was definitely missed. They still had the beautiful harmony of the original group, however.

The Seekers are a truely gifted group. We love all of their hits and when shopping online we saw their greatest hits and that says it all. A beautiful collection that will make you want to dance the night away.
