For $20 and 25 CD's. You can't pass it up. Sherlock Holmes is always a fun detective show to listen to. You just have to put up with the wine commercials.

This is a fantastic collection of the Sherlock Holmes Radio programs. Basil Rathbone-Nigel Bruce did over 200 radio episodes. This cd collection is long overdue. The writing and performances are great.
There are 50 shows in this collection , all for a very reasonable price.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series.Hopefully, I won't have to wait too long.

This is a very good product. One or two of the recording are hard to hear because of the technology of the day. It would be better if the recordings were in date order. All of their cases should be on CD or DVD. The references to war bonds or other war announcements at the end of many recordings is fascinating. I can imagine my parents and grandparents listening to these on the radio. I wish someone would put radio plays on the radio while you're stuck in rush hour. I bet it would sell.

As a fan of all Sherlock Holmes stories, I began collecting the radio shows on cassette several years ago. Since then, the tapes have become worn, and cassette players (for cars) are becoming a thing of the past, so I've been looking for a CD version of these wonderful radio shows. This collection has all of the radio shows that I had on cassette, plus many more that I'd never heard before. The cassette versions had some interesting narrations provided and recorded in the 80's (and maybe early 90's) by Anthony Boucher, the announcer of many of those 40's era radio shows, which aren't included on these CDs, but it seems like a fair trade since this set includes many other Sherlock Holmes radio shows that I'd never heard before. The radio program ads are still there (Petri Wine, and Bromo-Quinine Cold Tablets), which are an itegral part of the shows. Since these shows were produced and captured onto lacquer discs (the common recording medium of the 40's, and was used to send these shows overseas to our soldiers during WWII), the audio quality isn't always pristine, but even the shortcomings of transcribing these shows from old lacquer discs adds to the charm and vintage flavor. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce are at their finest in these radio shows, and to receive 25 CDs with two shows on each for less than $25 is a steal of a deal in my humble opinion. This is a must-have collection for any Basil Rathbone-Nigel Bruce, Sherlock Holmes, or old radio show fans!

This is the original that features the two on the old radio shows. It even includes the Petri Wine commercials who sponsored the show. This collection includes ALL 50 of the shows. Other sets sell for $20 just for 12 or so; while this has the entire collection. Well worth it, if you loved the old Movies featuring the dynamic duo of Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce. Each CD has two "Cases" which are about 30 minutes apiece.

Years ago, I purchased cassette collections of 8 stories for $40 each....this is a bargain! Fine entertainment for a winter's night, with an oil lamp and a cozy fire!

This item is such a great product! In my previous review I said the price was really high but it has come down and for 20 dollars you get 50 episodes of Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce at the top of their form. Don't hesitate to get this You will treasure this as you listen to the best duo who ever portrayed Holmes & Watson.Just sit back and listen and you can actually imagine Sir Basil & Sir Nigel in these new adventures like they were mini-movies for your imagination!

WOW ! What a wonderful collection of the old radio shows . The wine commercials kind of get a bit on your nerves , but it was from the original shows so I guess that is the way it goes . Loved all the mysteries and will listen to these over and over again . Great Set. Pat Simmons

My Favorite actors!I enjoyed this onemost of all! I love all Sherlock Holmes Audio Drama's.
This one did not disappoint.
