5.0 out of 5 stars 20 years and still going strong! July 31, 2012
Format:Audio CD
First, just to be clear, "Best in Show" is NOT a "Best Of" or compilation album, as some have mistakenly assumed. This is NEW material. That being said...

This album is pure Jackyl. It's loud, hard, naughty, greasy, gritty, irreverent, and catchy with a little twang and a lot of groove. It's everything rock and roll should be, and it goes a long way toward capturing the in-your-face essence of Jackyl's live performances (if you've ever seen them play live, then you know what I mean), which is no mean feat for a studio recording.

Most importantly, this album is just plain FUN to listen to, as are all of their albums, which, along with their being the hardest working band in rock and roll, is why you can expect them to follow up their first 20 years with another 20 or more, because after hearing "Best in Show," you'll realize that Jackyl has only just gotten started.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turn it up August 2, 2012
By Jack
Format:Audio CD
Great job by the boys... A bit of a different sound than I am used to from Jackyl, but as of the third time through the CD I think it's terrific. Buy it and crank it up. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Road tested, and hooky. August 8, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is not the best Jackyl album for Hard Rock. This IS another great Jackyl record, though. I don't personally care for "It's Tricky", but there's bound to be somebody that enjoys it, and it's good publicity for Jackyl to have DMC on their record, even if the track is hidden. This is not Jackyl Part 2. This is not Cut The Crap Part 2, this is Best in Show, and Jackyl aims to show newcomers just what a Jackyl is. This band has always been great for the fans, because they never make the same album twice, but you can count on an album that you can put on repeat in your car for a few days, that is, if you're an avid music enthusiast like myself. I think this album is great all the way through.

I find nothing wrong with the new direction of the songs. More of the songs than ever are in drop D tuning, and Jesse's vocals certainly cannot be what they used to be. You'll notice that most of the vocal tracks to the song are deeper than previous albums. 20 years of screaming at the top of your lungs every other night will do that to you. In order to make up for this new sound, Jackyl put a few more slower tracks on this album, and with the inclusion of songs that offer a poke in the eye to critics, like "Better Than Chicken", and "Encore", the band shows a roaring sense of humor and all sorts of independence. If you listened to Better Than Chicken already and didn't laugh your hind end off as Jesse belts out the chorus in the first few seconds then you missed the whole point of the song.

The title track preps the listener to the new chorus direction of vocal harmonies, which reminds me of the direction Alice in Chains took for their self-titled release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best work since the second Album August 1, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This CD Rocks pure Jackyl sombody gave it a crappy revue saying only three songs were good. B.S. the whole album is good, it covers tunes by DR.Hook and the song Tricky is a hip hop song I dont know who did, they were the songs I liked the least only cause I played the hell out of Dr. Hook over the years, and Im not a huge hip hop guy so the tricky song could get old fast. They are both great versions of those songs though. The album is very reminicent of the first and second albums wich I personaly loved. If you like jackyl or just some good ol Hard hitting Pure rock get this one. If you like poontang better than chicken buy it. This one wont leave the CD player on my Harley for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Best In Show" Top Album Of 2012 August 8, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is by far and away the best Jackyl album to date, extremely energetic rock songs that really bring back the fist pump arena rock n roll that to me is the best, you just forget about your problems and have fun. This album has the vibe of the debut album from Jackyl, Jesse James Dupree voice is still in tip top shape with an AC/DC appeal to his vocal. Also Jeff Worley a highly underrated guitarist does some awesome riffing and power chords that make ya want to air guitar to all his awesomeness!!! "Cover Of The Rolling Stone" is a highlight song with a simple "We Will Rock You" type drumbeat, It's a cover song from Dr. Hook but Jackyl definitely make it their own with a chainsaw solo, and could actually have a hit with it, If radio stopped catering to only Rap and Justin Bieber???? Do yourself a favor and buy this album. If ya love Motley Crue, AC/DC, KISS, Bad City....Also for all you Nickelback fans do yourself a huge favor and buy this album from Jackyl and enjoy true Rock N Roll. They also do a really fun version of a Run DMC song "It's Tricky" My personal favorite song is "Favorite Sin" which has a great driving beat & I love the guitaring in the song. so in the words of Jackyl "I like poontang better than chicken" CLASSIC :) Keep up the great work Jackyl for keeping true Rock N Roll alive & well!
