In "Bart the General," Bart finds himself the constant victim of playground bully Nelson Muntz and seeks advice from his parents. When that fails, he turns to Grandpa Simpson, who hooks Bart up with crazy Herman, who runs the army surplus store and outfits Bart and his pals in enough gear to take over the whole school. In "Moaning Lisa," Lisa has a case of the glums, which turn out to be the blues--which are cured when she discovers the music of her new idol, jazzman Bleeding Gums Murphy. Homer, meanwhile, gets himself tutored in video games so he will be able to beat the undefeated Bart in a boxing game in which Bart regularly knocks Homer's man's head off. These are not two of the better episodes in this series. --Marshall Fine

My favorite one is "Moaning Lisa" She's doleful and doesn't see the point of her existance. Also she sees the stupidity in people, For example in gym the gym teacher says, "In dodgeball the object of the game is to get out and weave away from the balls path." Lisa replies, "Hence the name dodgeball." Homer won't let her play her saxaphone, which is her refuge of life.I also get yelled at whe I play my bass guitar. Marge tells Lisa to smile untill it's burried down deep inside, and that's what makes you popular. When my mom tells me to smile that's what she is practicaly saying. Finaly after a week she gets over this because she finds a friend who understands her, named Bleeding Gums Murphy and Marge gives her a sense of security at the end. She's lucky she found a friend like Bleeding Gums Murphy and to solve all of her problems with-in 30 min.

I make it a habit to buy these sets as fast as they release them. "Bart the General" was one that I was especially excited to see. If you have ever even known anyone with a military background, this episode is for you. The script is smart and well written. This is one of the best of the earlier episodes, so if you're new to the Simpsons, you've just got to see it.

Bart the general is a true classic, it's one of the best simpsons and holds many funny cracks. However, Moaning Lisa is not as good it is one of the average simpsons but I would buy it because of the Bart the general and Moaning Lisa isn't that bad either.
