1.0 out of 5 stars I would not purchase this product again!!, December 27, 2004
This review is from: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005 (CD-ROM)
I am currently using Peachtree Premium accounting 2005 and would NEVER recommend that anyone use this software.

First, the software is full of bugs. For example, our accounts receivable aging is constantly becoming out of balance with our general ledger. This is clearly a system issue. Peachtree / Best Software has built an "integrity check" which is their system for fixing the database. I have been forced to run this integrity check, which takes approximately 2 hours to complete, 4 times this month. I check our A/R balance again today, and it is again out of balance. This will be the 5th time this month I've been forced to take my staff off line (no one can use the system while this integrity check is running), with no real resolution in sight.

I've just completed the integrity check and it found 88 database errors to correct. That is just in the past 5 days.

Second, the system is extremely slow over the network. Our internal network is very stable and rarely has issues with any other network activity. Peachtree is by far the slowest running program on our network.

Third, the system regularly freezes and crashes. When the program freezes or crashes, it requires the user to reboot. Often times, the user will be locked out of the system, because Peachtree thinks that there is still a user there. Eventually, the solution is to reboot the server where the network database resides. Again, this requires all users to stop using the system and to wait for the network system to come back up again.

resolving issues. Typically, their solution is to say that it is a problem with the way we are doing things here, when in fact we are following advice they have given us in the past.

I cannot UNrecommend this product more.

1.0 out of 5 stars There are better software out there!, January 15, 2005

Please look around and be more futuristic.
Peachtree has lots of unfixed bugs and is out dated. I tested some software and found some really good, with reasonable price: BusinessWorks, Small Business Manager (microsoft.com), Quick Business Manager (bisaim.com),Vision Point 2000 (ACCPAC), BusinessVision 32 (Softline).

Good Luck in your search.

2.0 out of 5 stars Use with Caution....., April 16, 2005

Unless you're a bookkeeper geek, Peachtree is not something you can do alone. For those who enjoy bookkeeping and have assistance from a some-time Accountant, it is sufficiently flexible to handle your needs. It's not cheap and to evaluate properly consider: training, 3rd party charges and Best Software nickel and diming you for every little thing. For example, this upgrade is totally unnecessary, except to obsolete their earlier versions. One finds very little changing and what does change, is unimpressive -- most items on the above feature list are not new.

1.0 out of 5 stars Full of Bugs and Slow, March 2, 2005
This review is from: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005 (CD-ROM)
We are forced here to give it one star - The program deserves NONE!

We couldn't agree more with the comments below. The product is
extremely unreliable and slow. We have been struggling with this for several years now and the last upgrade seemed to have made things even worse. We will have to look for another program.

1.0 out of 5 stars Best Software Has Destroyed Peachtree, June 15, 2005
By
This review is from: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005 (CD-ROM)
The "old" Peachtree and Peachtree Complete were good products. They allowed for essentially unlimited departments in the general ledger and multi-department payroll. Best's Peachtree calls these "segments" and forces you to purchase the too expense Peachtree Premium to get just FIVE departments. Their fixed asset system is limited to 200 assets...totally unacceptable....They are trying to force an upgrade to their MAS line of products.

It's a shame that they seem to want kill it. I've used Peachtree for nearly 20 years. The earlier versions were much more user friendly. I used to use Peachtree for a 300 person, multi-department payroll and for public accounting, departmentalization, and multi-company consolidation. I wouldn't recommend that anyone attempt this with Peachtree's current versions. Peachtree used to be the go to company for small business accounting....through Best Software's greed, they have been eclipsed by Intuit's Quickbooks.

Avoid Peachtree/Best Products at all costs.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but there are better alternatives, January 11, 2005
This review is from: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005 (CD-ROM)
Peachtree is ok, but I do not recommend it for several reasons:
1. It has a very old interface. Make you tired and bored after a while!
2. Very complex. For example, you have to type 10.00, instead of just 10!
3. Old technology: Now we are in 2005 not in 1990!

And other thing I did not like.

I would personally recommend Small Business Manager (SBM) from Microsoft http://www.microosft.com or another alternative and less expensive is Quick Business Manager (QBM) from Business Aim http://www.bisaim.com. There other software I could recommend but it seems that these two are really using great technologies such as Microsoft .Net and SQL Server. Good Luck.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of these products, February 2, 2005
I use an older version of Peachtree Complete Accounting (2003)which has developed an error in closing the 2003 year to be able to work in 2004 and 2005. All of the cheques which still show in the payments screens are missing from the account reconciliation screen. Even if you enter new checks they wiil not show on the account rec screen. I called Peachtree, they insisted that it was a data problem so I ran all the integrity checks and the data verification using the -i switch and the repair company to no avail. The guy on the phone did tell me that the info on running these tasks was not in the manual. He was right it was not, it was included in the manuals for older versions though. I think Peachtree deliberately removed these items from the manual so you would have to pay for tech support, and none of them worked anyway. All in all I think Peachtree is giving customers a pretty raw deal on this one. It is a known errata and they refuse to add it to the knowledge base and they insist that you pay for info which rightfully should be part of the manual. I must admit someone had warned me about these data integrity issues with Peachtree a long time ago, but this is my first personal experience with this issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard Har Har, Very complex!, January 12, 2005

We are not in an industrial age any more! We want better software, much easier to use, and better interface. Why Peachtree is that hard? Remember DOS? How hard it was when Windows came about? Now peachtree is like that if you have used better software: Old tech.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005 (CD-ROM)
Ordered Peachtree 2005 Complete accounting and received a replacement disk that you can't register therefor the product is useless. There was nothing in the ad that stated this was a replacemnet disk. False advertisement on their part I do believe. I would not suggest buying from this company.
